What You'll Do

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise-grade network and data systems across all PopStroke venues and corporate locations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the resilience, performance, and security of our growing infrastructure. You’ll collaborate across departments to drive network innovation, enhance cybersecurity posture, and deliver reliable connectivity to support the accelerating growth of PopStroke.

 

Reports to: Chief of Staff & Product Strategy

Hybrid (based in Plano, TX), occasional travel

Full-Time, Exempt

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead network strategy and architecture for 20+ PopStroke venues, cloud systems, and back-office environments, ensuring scalability and security to support company growth.
  • Design, deploy, and manage complex network environments including firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless systems across multi-site operations.
  • Harden and monitor network security, implementing advanced firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and zero-trust access controls.
  • Integrate cybersecurity best practices into network operations, including patch management, vulnerability scanning, and incident response planning.
  • Oversee network configurations and hybrid cloud connectivity, ensuring redundancy, failover capabilities, and secure inter-site communications.
  • Implement and maintain real-time monitoring and alerting for critical infrastructure (Meraki Dashboard, SNMP tools, etc.).
  • Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of complex network issues, coordinating with ISPs, vendors, and internal IT teams.
  • Work with security and compliance teams to ensure network and venue infrastructure meets standards (PCI-DSS, SOC2, ISO 27001) relevant to multi-unit retail/hospitality.
  • Lead capacity planning and bandwidth forecasting across venues to support growth, new services, streaming, AV, IoT sensors and guest WiFi.
  • Manage and test disaster recovery, business continuity and fail-over for network infrastructure across venues (including backup circuits, redundant routing, datacenter fail-over).
  • Own and report on key network performance KPIs for multi-site network: uptime, latency, packet loss, fail-over time, SLA compliance.
  • Document network topologies and configurations, creating SOPs and technical diagrams.
  • Support on-site installations and upgrades, including occasional travel to venues for implementation and validation testing; valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

 

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering or infrastructure roles.
  • Proven expertise in Cisco Meraki and Cisco Catalyst environments, including Layer 2/Layer 3/VLAN design, routing, and switching.
  • Strong experience with network security technologies - Meraki MX, VPNs, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing redundant egress with automatic failover across multiple ISPs.
  • Familiarity with Ubiquiti and other Wi-Fi platforms, supporting large-scale wireless deployments.
  • Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE (Enterprise or Security track), CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment where multiple site roll-outs, after-hours support, and travel may be required.
  • Ability to read and create detailed network diagrams, wiring schematics, and site plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, handle risk, control costs, and adhere to timelines and budget.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls) and their application to network operations.
  • Exposure to SIEM, endpoint security, or vulnerability management solutions.
  • Experience with fiber, Cat6, and low-voltage cabling standards and terminations.
  • Background in AV systems, POS, or IoT integrations within hospitality or entertainment venues.
  • Certifications: CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, Meraki CMSS, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience in multi-unit environments such as hospitality, retail, or sports entertainment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

 

The position is a hybrid role, combining in-office and remote work, and requires candidates to be based in the Dallas, TX area. Occasional travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 15% of the time to individual venues as needed.
