Since its founding in 2007, Power TakeOff’s products and services have centered around the use of interval electric data to help the business market better understand and reduce their usage and to use software and analytics as tools to cost-effectively deliver services at utility-scale. While our end-user participants are businesses, much of our work is generated from utility-scale contracts with over 20 utilities across North America.

Postion Summary

This is a new position at Power TakeOff that will support the organization’s growing footprint of its demand-side management (DSM) offerings now across 18 states. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking utility and State related regulatory news and processes important to Power TakeOff. This includes researching relevant utility DSM filings, tracking scheduled and ad-hoc fillings and testimony of parties involved, and then summarizing and reporting relevant information to internal stakeholders. The output of this work is cross functional in support of client conversations and market positioning, product offering strategy and development, program delivery, and measurement and verification processes.  The Policy Associate will ensure organizational alignment with evolving utility or state changes to DSM and the broader non-residential market. A secondary objective of the role is to track federal initiatives impacting energy efficiency, including decisions by FERC and the DOE among other entities.

The Job

  • Conduct analysis and regulatory support to meet company requirements.
  • Learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of Power TakeOff solutions, industry trends and competition.
  • Identify and contribute to internal processes in response to changes in regulatory requirements.
  • Research targeted accounts, document energy efficiency program performance metrics, identify key players, and uncover potential decision motivators.
  • Stay informed of state and federal regulations and legislation that may impact Power TakeOff’s policies, practices, and products. 
  • Identify regulatory or external customer/stakeholder issues and proactively develop positions in order to meet company objectives.
  • Develop effective written communications on various regulatory topics including presentations, procedures, policies and reference materials.
  • Interact with leadership throughout the organization to understand and address regulatory issues.
  • Prepare and manage regulatory activities, including monthly, quarterly, annual, and other regulatory filings and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on ad-hoc (e.g., RFP proposal) and long-term project assignments.
  • Identify relevant new business opportunities by in-depth research of state policy and utility regulatory filings.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of electric utility or energy industry experience.
  • Knowledge and ability in researching tariff amendments, contracts, service agreements, testimony, briefs, arguments, pleadings and other regulatory documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to effectively convey complex technical or legal concepts in understandable terms both in writing and verbally.
    Ability and willingness to complete projects and routine tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a team and develop, facilitate, and implement broad based initiatives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subject matter experts, team members, and managers.
  • Needs proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Application and PC skills.
Location+ Travel
  • This is a remote position and a fully remote company. 
  • Power TakeOff does have ties to Denver, Colorado, and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, with a number of employees based in those markets. 

  • Travel not required, but Power TakeOff does have events on occasion and pays for travel and accommodations for them.

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 75,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
