Power TakeOff is a software and implementation company driven by making an environmental impact by helping business customers reduce their energy consumption. Since its founding in 2007, Power TakeOff’s products and services have centered around the use of interval electric data to help the business market better understand and reduce their usage and to use software and analytics as tools to cost-effectively deliver services at utility-scale. While our end-user participants are businesses, much of our work is generated from utility-scale contracts with over 20 utilities across North America.

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager at Power TakeOff is a versatile role with a range of responsibilities internally and externally in support of the company’s products, services, and company brand presence in the industry. This position will closely collaborate across several teams including program delivery, business development, and new product development team among others. In leading the ideation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of marketing strategies for our products, services, and company brand presence in the industry, this position is responsible for content creation, visual design and development, A:B testing, marketing funnel optimization, and day to day programmatic marketing delivery tasks associated with existing and new initiatives. This role will also identify external distribution channels of marketing material and disseminate accordingly. The Marketing Manager must be proficient in storytelling, writing compelling copy, designing engaging and effective graphics, and crafting creative campaigns for Power TakeOff’s various audiences such as utilities, energy industry stakeholders, and prospective employees as well as experience with content management software and email platforms.



Key Responsibilities

The Marketing Manager leads external marketing initiatives including:

  • Developing value propositions and messaging frameworks for products based on customer segments and buyer personas
  • Strategic product marketing initiatives in collaboration with product owners and the sales organization including:
    • Leading and/or collaborating on creation of materials for business development (e.g. white papers, graphics for proposals and sales presentations, case studies, PowerPoints, conference booth materials)
    • Tracking and managing conference topic submissions and awards
    • Developing program collateral in support of the delivery of utility programs
  • Ensuring content is informed by and reflective of key nuances and trends in the energy efficiency / demand side management and customer experience industry
  • Managing the organization’s content calendar, including developing the overall plan and publication schedule as well as compiling, creating, and publishing the content for items such as:
    • Press Releases
    • Award Announcements
    • Achievements in the industry
    • Marketing materials promoting solutions (industry briefs, case studies, etc.)
  • Website development and maintenance
  • Analytics tracking for web pages, content distribution, and social media
  • Tracking industry trends and new developments in marketing and advertising among peers and beyond to bring marketing best practices to Power TakeOff

The Marketing Manager leads internal marketing initiatives including:

  • Leading all corporate and brand marketing collateral and campaigns
  • Developing the visual language for the brand, brand book, and style guidelines
  • Selecting and managing product tools such as the company’s email marketing platform
  • Maintaining consistency of brand identity and corporate voice
  • Ensuring content voice is consistent across organizational assets
  • Creating new and updating existing corporate templates (reporting, presentation, email signature guidelines, letterheads, etc.) 
  • Developing and maintaining a marketing guide for internal use and an external brand guidelines document for future contractor/partner use
  • Supporting Sales in proposal development
  • Receiving and executing on ad hoc marketing requests from internal teams and stakeholders
    • Specifically, this requires the receipt of general ideas or requests through an internal Marketing Request Process, and the organization, prioritization, project management, documentation, tracking, idea and scope finalization, design, and execution of such requests.

The Marketing Manager is also responsible for tracking, evaluating, and reporting on the success of all marketing initiatives, using data and analysis to identify areas for improvement and innovation.


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in a marketing role in the clean energy, utility, energy efficiency or renewables field
  • Demonstrated ability to increase brand awareness in the energy industry
  • Self-motivation to deliver with excellence and grow professionally 
  • Motivation and ability to learn and understand new concepts and techniques
  • Ability to handle a wide range of tasks, prioritize workload, and communicate professionally and effectively, particularly in a remote environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with a range of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Adobe, etc.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Interest in project management and product marketing certifications to augment existing skills (as financially supported by the company’s professional development resources)

Location and Travel

Power TakeOff is a 100% virtual company with no physical office location. However, many employees are based in two hubs in the areas around Denver, CO and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Residence in one of these two hubs is desired but not required, and relocation assistance will not be provided for the position.


Regular travel is not required for this position, but occasional travel may be required. Power TakeOff will cover the associated accommodation and travel expenses for any such travel. 


Compensation and Benefits

The total expected compensation range, including base salary and any bonus potential, for employees residing in the U.S. is between $100,000 and $125,000 USD per year, depending on experience. Power TakeOff maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.

The pay range for this role is:
