Power TakeOff is a software and implementation company driven by making an environmental impact by helping business customers reduce their energy consumption. Since its founding in 2007, Power TakeOff’s products and services have centered around the use of interval electric data to help the business market better understand and reduce their usage and to use software and analytics as tools to cost-effectively deliver services at utility-scale. While our end-user participants are businesses, much of our work is generated from utility-scale contracts with over 20 utilities across North America.

Position Summary

This role’s purpose is to equip the Programs Team, specifically focusing on Energy Advisors, with the resources and access to resources that they need in order to be most successful in their day-to-day work and as employees. Primary job functions include facilitating team communication within and on behalf of the Programs Team, continually creating and improving resources for EAs, and managing tools used by the team. A key part and guiding principle of this role is making data-driven decisions, done by gathering and responding to qualitative feedback and examining quantitative metrics as much as possible.


We are a rapidly growing team and a key focus of this position is to successfully onboard new team members while also upskilling our current team to make sure everyone’s knowledge is growing together. 

Goals and Success Criteria

  • Onboard new team members while also growing the knowledge of our current team members. 
    • Equip both new team members and existing with the resources and access to resources they need to be most successful in their day-to-day work. 
  • Employ continuous improvement by fostering a culture of quality control and feedback.
    • Resources, processes, and tools are developed based on feedback that is meaningfully considered both from the team at large and individuals checking work for quality.
  • Make data-driven decisions to better the team in meaningful and appropriate ways.
    • Decisions, processes, and tools newly rolled out have ample quantitative metrics proving their necessity and effectiveness when possible.
  • Facilitate smooth and clear communication within the Programs Team and from Programs to other departments.
    • All Power TakeOff employees are clear about relevant happenings with the Programs Team and know how to find information when needed.
  • Maintain a wealth of useful and accessible resources for the Programs Team to aid in their daily work.
    • Energy Advisors feel confident and well-equipped to engage with customers and achieve energy savings.
  • Ensure the Programs Team is using tools that are best fit for purpose and to their fullest potentials.
    • Tools are regularly reviewed and evaluated to demonstrate effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct trainings
    • Lead trainings for the Programs Team to inform them of new tools and processes, new uses for existing tools, and refreshers to ensure they are maximizing usefulness
    • Analyze feedback and data to determine what trainings the team can benefit from
    • Design and delegate trainings to be led by the appropriate party
    • Review other people’s trainings for the team to determine relevance and readiness
  • Facilitate information sharing to the Programs Team
    • Create, maintain, and manage a schedule throughout the year for when Programs Team meetings are held and what content is being shared
    • Lead team meetings and mixers
    • Create and disseminate content to be sent to the Programs Team so that information is readily accessible (via emails, slack messages, content cards, etc.)
    • Create a variety of content including commercial building energy efficiency reference material, guides to team tools, guidelines for team funds, and more
  • Create new resources
    • Analyze feedback and data to determine what reference resources the team can benefit from
    • Build content that can be easily used and accessed by the Programs Team to help in their daily workflow and/or with their knowledge as employees
  • Troubleshoot tool issues
    • Answer questions from the team about tools and issues that arise in a timely manner
    • Resolve problems with tool functionality with the appropriate level of urgency
    • Escalate serious problems to the appropriate parties within and external to Power TakeOff
  • Liaise within Power TakeOff
    • Collaborate with team members to find and fill holes in existing resources and communication 
    • Serve as a key point of contact for the Programs Team to other departments such as Operations, Marketing, Analytics, and Value Creation
    • Connect to the industry to bring in new content when needed

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the energy industry, preferably in utility DSM, energy efficiency, or demand response
  • Communication is key! This role involves significant communication with internal stakeholders from many departments. It is challenging to over communicate in this role.  
  • Organization. Needs to organize their own work, team resources with information, and team structures and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are required to support both the communication and organizational requirements
  • Project Management. Handles multiple projects and tasks, keeps them on a timeline, and holds others accountable for their responsibilities.
  • Ambition. Is motivated to make progress on short and long term projects.
  • Assertiveness. This person must be willing to question both internal and external roadblocks, investigate alternative options, ask follow-up questions, understand the root of roadblocks, and find creative solutions. This position should not be willing to take an initial “No” and just leave it.
  • Adaptability. Is flexible with shifting priorities, changing a project’s course for the betterment of the work, and being prepared for the unexpected.
  • Focused. Maintaining a clear understanding of prioritizing time and energy on the highest impact activities.
  • Collaboration and project management. This role must be able to delegate tasks to team members across the organization, rallying the right groups of individuals to collectively solve problems.  
  • Visionary. Always thinking about what could be built and how processes could be improved
  • Able to work cross-functionally, leveraging your organizational and time management expertise

Location+ Travel

  • This is a remote position and a fully remote company. 
  • Power TakeOff does have ties to Denver, Colorado, and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, with a number of employees based in those markets. 
  • Travel not required, but Power TakeOff does have events on occasion and pays for travel and accommodations for them.

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 70,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
