The Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia (Pozez JCC), located in Fairfax, Virginia, is a nonprofit, social service organization that builds community and enriches lives. Position Title: NV Rides Intern (May-August 2025) extended through October if mutually agreed upon

Reports to: Elena Alergant, NV Rides Manager

Classification: Part Time, 20H/week

Time Frame: 20hours/Week including some evening and weekend responsibilities

About NV Rides: NV Rides is a volunteer transportation network housed within the Pozez Jewish Community Center. NV Rides serves all 4 counties of Northern Virginia - Loudoun, Prince William, Arlington and Fairfax. Our mission is to support low to no cost transportation services to the region’s seniors and adults living with disabilities. We work to ensure that seniors can access essential medical services, events, and activities. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and connectivity through our volunteer-driven transportation network.

Summary of Position:

As the Volunteer Rides Program Intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of NV Rides. Your primary responsibilities will include volunteer recruitment, attending public events, outreach and administrative tasks. NV Rides recruits volunteers to drive seniors at farmer’s markets, expos, festivals and tradeshows. You will also assist in handling phone calls, managing e-mail inquiries and marketing NV Rides programs.

Essential Position Duties:

· Plan and coordinate events related to NV Rides, including tabling at community events.

· Plan and execute events to celebrate volunteers and recognize achievements.

· Conduct outreach activities to promote NV Rides at local gatherings and community functions. Secure attendance at future events by frequently making contacts with other community organizations.

· Develop an events calendar, taking into account the unique needs and interests of seniors and volunteers.

· Manage the program's public email account, responding promptly to inquiries and providing information about the volunteer rides program.

· Keep accurate records of email correspondence and maintain a well-organized inbox.

· Answer and respond to phone inquiries from seniors, volunteers, and community members.

· Provide accurate referrals to rides programs, assist with information and referral about other regional transportation services and supports.

· Maintain clear and detailed records of all phone communications.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

· Postsecondary Student studying a related field (ie, social work, communications, marketing, gerontology, psychology) or equivalent experience or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Experience

· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Experience in event planning and coordination.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Familiarity with volunteer programs and services for seniors is a plus.

Salary Range: $22/Hr
