About Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington:

Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington brings the joys of childhood back to children with cancer and their siblings through Sunrise Day Camp, Year-Round Programs, and In-Hospital Recreational Activities (“Sunrise on Wheels”) — all offered free of charge.

Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington is a program of the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia and is affiliated with Sunrise Association, which currently operates or supports 12-day camps across the U.S. and Israel (including Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington) and partners with 36 pediatric oncology hospitals (including Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Fairfax, VA, and Children’s National in Washington, D.C.). In 2023, Sunrise Association and its affiliates served over 30,000 children through camps, virtual programs, and hospital-based events.

The Sunrise Day Camp Development Manager is a passionate, high-energy fundraising professional who will lead and execute development and communications efforts to support Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington and its year-round programming.

Working closely with the Pozez JCC Executive Director and Pozez JCC’s senior management team, this position will cultivate individual, corporate, and foundation support, manage local fundraising events, and build strong relationships throughout Northern Virginia and Greater Washington, D.C.’s philanthropic community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals
    • Cultivate and steward new and existing individual, corporate, and foundation donors
    • Lead solicitation efforts and manage a donor pipeline in collaboration with the Pozez JCC development team
    • Track progress toward goals, maintain records, and support reporting and budgeting processes
  • Event Management
    • Plan, coordinate, and fundraise for annual SunriseWALKS and/or other events
    • Recruit, manage, and motivate volunteer event committees and participants
  • Leadership Engagement
    • Collaborate with Pozez JCC Executive Director to develop, recruit, grow, and support the Sunrise Day Camp Leadership Board
    • Engage with the Pozez JCC Board of Directors as needed
  • Community Outreach, Public Speaking & Communications
    • Represent Sunrise in the community, conduct camp tours during the summer, speak at events, and promote donor and sponsor engagement
    • Manage Sunrise communication, including material/content development, list serve maintenance, and coordinate with Pozez JCC Marketing & Communications team on media, including social media
    • Serve as a visible, approachable ambassador for Sunrise throughout the year
  • Administrative & Coordination Duties
    • Collaborate regularly with the Pozez JCC leadership team and the Sunrise Day Camp director, as well as Sunrise Association staff as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or event planning
  • Strong track record in donor cultivation, peer-to-peer fundraising, and event management
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with public speaking and community engagement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with GoFundMePro (formerly Classy) and CRM systems (Salesforce) preferred

Reports to: Executive Director, Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia
Job Type: Full-time, exempt (M-F with some evenings and weekends required)
Location: In-person, Fairfax, VA (must relocate or commute reliably)

Compensation: $70,000 – $75,000 annually
