About the role

  • In charge of overseeing development tasks for wind project sites throughout the entire development process, starting from site identification and continuing until Notice to Proceed (NTP) is obtained. Specific responsibilities entail, but are not restricted to: taking ownership of projects, assuming full responsibility, and demonstrating prior experience to foresee potential challenges. The role necessitates the capability to confidently entrust the individual with a project at any stage of the cycle, knowing they possess the proficiency to manage it efficiently. 

What you'll do

  • Planning & Management
    • Identify development prospects, conduct fatal flaw review, and initial site reconnaissance. 
    • Probe and research potential project sites and communities.
    • Conduct project feasibility evaluation.
    • Develop and execute project development strategy and plans.
    • Execute all project development activities including:
      • Project schedules (MS Project) identifying critical path activities, maintain critical issues list.
      • Update project budgets and cash flow projections, completing requested management reporting and tracking.
      • Comply with project related contract & regulatory compliance.  
      • Complete tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating with internal and external technical support as assigned.
      • Interface with subject matter experts/contractors, including those related to project resource assessment, interconnection, project design, financial modelling, regulatory and legislative matters, environmental and wildlife studies, and permitting.
  • Land
    • Supporting Land Acquisition team for new projects Accountable for the acquisition plan for new project sites, which may include:
      1. hiring residents, establishing local offices, funding local initiatives, establishing relationships, and generally developing alliances with the community that will support site development.
      2. Coordinate and plan landowner meetings and community events.
      3. Produce and maintain accurate landowner contact records for parcel files consistent with the company real estate inventory database.
    • Coordinate communications with landowners as necessary during development/pre‐construction.
    • Manage relationships with customers, landowners, state and local officials and other stakeholders to achieve a positive reputation, etc.
  • Resource Assessment
    • Coordinate site resource monitoring deployment and data management.
    • Support the completion of resource assessment reports.
  • Environmental & Permitting
    • Research local, state and federal regulations on project development to incorporate into project plan. 
    • Manage consultant(s) responsible for permitting and regulatory tasks.
    • Support the state, federal and local permitting processes, including application preparation, review of contractor reports, overall permitting, representing the company during the permitting process as assigned.
    • Support the project team through all necessary environmental studies.
  • Origination
    • Assist and support origination of project offtake opportunities.
    • Create support materials for offtake opportunities including RFPs.
  • Travel
    • Travel could be up to 50% at times.
    • Travel to project site(s) as necessary. 
    • Attend 2 company meetings in Minneapolis as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience working on wind energy projects with increasing responsibility.
  • Prior experience with all aspects of wind development projects from site identification to NTP.
  • Experience with zoning and permitting of wind energy projects. 
  • Familiarity with the utility interconnection process
  • Comfortable being “hands-on” and “boots on the ground.” 
  • Detail oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, working virtually in complex teams/environments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once. 
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Project/Smartsheet, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Earth.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

The pay range for this role is:

140,000 - 160,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
