About the role
**Job Title:** Entry-Level IT Field Service Worker (Contractor)
**Location:** Orlando Health Tampa / Land O Lakes Area
**Department:** Information Technology Services
**Job Type:** Contract 6 months with the possibility of extension and/or perm hire
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Entry-Level IT Field Service Worker to join our team on a contract basis. As part of our hospital's IT services department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of IT systems and equipment across various hospital sites. This position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with opportunities to learn and grow in the field of information technology.
What you'll do
1. **On-Site Technical Support:**
- Provide first-level support for IT-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems for hospital staff.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop computers, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Respond to and resolve service requests and incidents in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
2. **Equipment Maintenance and Inventory Management:**
- Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Assist with the setup and deployment of new devices and replacement of faulty equipment.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT equipment, ensuring proper tracking and reporting of assets.
3. **Network and Systems Support:**
- Assist in the setup and troubleshooting of wired and wireless network connections.
- Support hospital staff with access to hospital systems, applications, and data as per established security protocols.
- Collaborate with the IT team to ensure network and system security compliance.
4. **Documentation and Reporting:**
- Document service requests, resolutions, and equipment changes in the IT service management system.
- Provide regular updates to supervisors on the status of ongoing tasks and report any issues that require further escalation.
- Assist in creating and updating user guides and documentation for common IT tasks and troubleshooting procedures.
5. **Collaboration and Communication:**
- Work closely with other IT team members and hospital departments to support various IT projects and initiatives.
- Provide clear and effective communication with hospital staff to ensure understanding of IT services and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and service delivery skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in IT or a related field is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a patient and friendly approach to handling technical issues.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and hospital systems.
- Ability to lift and carry IT equipment, such as computers and monitors, up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between hospital sites (if required).
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Previous experience in an IT support role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific software applications and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
**Work Environment:**
- This position requires on-site presence at various hospital locations.
- The role may involve walking, standing, and moving equipment across different departments.
- Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call work may be required to support critical IT operations.
