What does a Technical Support Engineer do at Prisma?

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will join the Developer Connections team to contribute to the following:

  • Solving technical problems for Prisma users across Prisma ORM and the Prisma Data Platform. This includes responding to inquiries and troubleshooting issues with data modeling, migrations, performance, and other common challenges. You'll provide support through various channels like GitHub, Discord, and other platforms, documenting solutions and reporting trends to help improve the product.
  • Sharing your knowledge by improving documentation, creating tutorials or examples, and writing helpful articles that enable Prisma users, contribute to the growth of the Prisma community and increase adoption for Prisma products.
  • Helping improve Prisma by sharing customer feedback and insights with our product and engineering teams, directly influencing the future of our products and helping developers build amazing applications.
  • Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and other teams on projects that help us build better products aligned with user and customer needs.
  • Streamline internal processes by developing and maintaining tools and solutions, or creating runbooks that enable swift, standardized issue identification and resolution.

An Ideal Candidate Profile

We believe the right candidate for this position should meet a majority of the criteria listed below.

  • Technical Proficiency: 2+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably supporting software developers or working directly with full-stack technologies. Experience building applications with JavaScript or TypeScript, frameworks like Next, Remix and similar, on platforms like Cloudflare Workers or Vercel is highly beneficial.
  • Database Expertise: Solid understanding of database concepts and experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB). Familiarity with Prisma's technologies is a significant advantage.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, with a knack for identifying root causes and explaining solutions clearly. Experience using debugging tools and analyzing logs is a plus.
  • Customer Focus: A genuine desire to help others and excellent interpersonal skills. You should be patient, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively with developers of varying technical abilities.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: A structured and methodical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to think critically and creatively to find effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner. Experience writing documentation or creating tutorials is a plus.
  • Continuous Learning: A passion for learning new technologies and staying up-to-date with the latest trends in web development and database management. A proactive approach to self-improvement.
  • Location: To provide optimal support coverage, this role requires candidates to be located within the time zones GMT -6 to GMT -2.

Remote Work

This role requires supporting users in the Americas, with a focus on regions south of the United States. Therefore, we are prioritizing candidates located within the time zones GMT -6 to GMT -2, excluding both Canada and the United States. While the primary focus is on the Americas, some availability for overlap with European time zones is a plus.
