About the Role

Our Engineering organization is structured into multiple product-focused divisions, each with dedicated leadership and clear ownership. These divisions operate as peer organizations, collaborating closely while maintaining distinct accountability for their respective product areas. Centralized DevOps, Analytics, Quality, and Infrastructure functions are owned outside of these product divisions, enabling product teams to focus on delivery and customer outcomes.

The Senior Engineering Manager will lead one product-focused division, the Workflow Platform, end-to-end. They will be accountable for the org health, clarity, and delivery of four teams, ensuring engineers operate with strong standards, predictable execution, and a shared sense of purpose. This is a business-execution leadership role with technical fluency, focused on scaling execution and elevating individual contributors. Coding is not required.

You are not the architect, the Scrum Master, or a hands‑on coder/code reviewer, but when alignment stalls, risks grow, or decisions linger, you step in and move the system forward. You build an environment where high‑performing engineers can do focused, high‑quality work and where teams consistently deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers.

Our ideal candidate blends strong business-execution leadership with technical fluency, and is able to engage in architectural and tradeoff discussions without serving as the architect.

  • Each team is organized as a pod in a product domain with 2-6 engineers of varying levels executing a roadmap.
  • Invest deeply in your engineers, driving high‑quality 1:1s, clear expectations, candid feedback, and long‑term career development.
  • Create a culture of accountability and performance where teams can do focused, high-quality work.
  • Partner with Product leadership in shared discovery and roadmap planning,  ensure tradeoffs are clear, decisions are made, and commitments are realistic.
  • Monitor delivery health, identifying systemic risk early and driving resolution.
  • Strengthen planning rigor, cross-team alignment, and execution consistency.
  • Raise and reinforce engineering standards across teams, quality, documentation, observability, and maintainability.
  • Reinforce release discipline across teams, ensuring predictable delivery, operational readiness, and rapid response when issues arise.
  • Create clarity where there is noise, simplify process where it has become ceremonial, and stabilize execution without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Step in when alignment stalls or accountability blurs, simplifying process and moving the system forward.
  • Understand the product and delivery work, staying close to teams and execution so risks, gaps, and tradeoffs are visible early and outcomes are owned end‑to‑end.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • 8-12 years of experience in technology organizations, with 3+ years leading teams.
  • Proven track record of improving organizational accountability, delivery reliability, and execution clarity across teams.
  • Experience developing leaders, senior engineers, and high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated judgment in making tradeoffs under ambiguity, balancing delivery pressure, quality, and long‑term health.
  • Deep understanding of Agile delivery environments and how to simplify process while strengthening outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with Product leadership in shared discovery and roadmap planning.
  • Ability to monitor and address systemic delivery risk across teams (dependencies, operational load, quality standards).
  • Experience managing contractor or external delivery partners.
  • Prior engineering or architectural background is a plus but not required.
  • Steady, mature, and deeply invested in helping people and systems improve over time.
