Your Mission
The DevOps Manager will oversee all aspects of our DevOps and IT infrastructure, managing the development, deployment, and operations of our SaaS platform and ensuring the smooth running of internal IT systems. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies (AWS and Azure), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and scripting in languages like Python and Elixir. Additionally, experience with mobile infrastructure and applications will be important. As a senior leader, you will mentor the DevOps and IT teams, drive best practices, and work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. DevOps Management:
- Lead and Manage the DevOps Team: Provide leadership and mentorship to the DevOps engineers, setting clear goals and priorities, and ensuring effective collaboration with development and product teams.
- CI/CD Pipeline Optimization: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline the development lifecycle and ensure fast, reliable releases.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize multi-cloud environments using AWS and Azure to ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the SaaS platform.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the implementation and management of IaC practices using Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment across multiple cloud platforms.
- Automation and Scripting: Utilize scripting languages like Python and Elixir to automate routine tasks, build tools, and optimize infrastructure management.
- Monitoring and Incident Management: Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and resolve infrastructure issues. Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis to prevent future outages.
2. IT Management and Security & Compliance:
- Security and Compliance: Ensure that both DevOps and internal IT systems meet security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, etc). Responsible for implementing and owning secure access controls, data protection measures, and policies. Maintain Prokeep’s SOC2 compliance.
- Internal IT Infrastructure: Oversee and manage internal IT systems, including laptops, collaboration tools, and user access management. Ensure internal IT systems are secure, scalable, and well-maintained.
- IT Support and Troubleshooting: Lead IT support efforts for internal employees, ensuring quick resolution of technical issues and providing a seamless technology experience for the team.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure alignment between DevOps and software development goals, driving best practices for deployment, integration, and feature rollouts.
- Collaborate with Product and Development Teams: Help align DevOps efforts with product roadmaps and feature releases, providing guidance on how infrastructure decisions impact product development timelines and quality.
- Capacity Planning and Scaling: Forecast future infrastructure needs, ensuring that the architecture supports anticipated growth in usage and capacity, particularly in mobile environments.
4. Leadership and Strategy:
- Strategic Vision and Roadmap: Develop and implement a forward-looking DevOps strategy, focusing on automation, scalability, and cost optimization. Align DevOps objectives with the broader company strategy.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and develop the DevOps and IT teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Identify opportunities for growth and provide feedback to ensure high performance.
- Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline and improve operational processes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across DevOps and IT functions.
5. Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage Budget: Oversee the budget for cloud infrastructure, DevOps tools, and internal IT resources. Work to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with the company's financial priorities.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers related to cloud services, infrastructure tools, and IT systems. Negotiate contracts and ensure SLAs are met.
Qualifications:
- At least 5+ years of experience in DevOps or Systems Engineering roles at SaaS start-ups, with 3+ years in a leadership or management position. Experience with SOC2 compliance and IT management a plus.
- Proven experience in managing multi-cloud environments (AWS and Azure) with a strong understanding of cloud architecture, services, and cost optimization.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly using Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure.
- Direct experience implementing and maintaining security and compliance audits, including SOC2.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Elixir for automation, tool-building, and infrastructure management.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, etc.) and building automated deployment processes for SaaS platforms.
- Solid understanding of mobile infrastructure and working with mobile application deployment, particularly in a SaaS environment.
- Strong experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and incident management systems.
Skills:
- Technical Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire technical teams, set clear goals, and manage cross-functional initiatives.
- Cloud Expertise: In-depth experience with AWS and Azure services and architectures, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Automation & IaC: Expertise in Terraform, automation, and infrastructure provisioning to optimize cloud infrastructure.
- Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in Python and Elixir for creating automation, custom tools, and supporting DevOps workflows.
- Mobile Infrastructure: Knowledge of mobile application deployment pipelines and managing cloud infrastructure that supports mobile applications.
- Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and relevant compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
- CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Expertise in continuous integration and continuous deployment practices using modern tools and platforms.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud environments and mobile infrastructure.
