About the Role
Location: Remote (Austin-based preferred, but open to global talent)
We’re looking for a deeply curious, technically savvy, and relentlessly innovative AI Visibility Optimization Expert (aka Generative Engine Optimization Specialist) to lead the charge on a new frontier: optimizing brand visibility in AI search environments like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude. This is not traditional SEO — this is about shaping how generative AI finds, understands, and recommends your brand when humans ask real questions.
You’ll be responsible for developing and iterating our methodology for AI search visibility from scratch. If you're the kind of person who runs prompts in ChatGPT just to reverse-engineer its citation patterns or tests how Perplexity responds to different content formats — we want to talk.
What You'll Do
- Invent and iterate our AI visibility methodology — design experiments to understand how AI models retrieve and rank content, then turn findings into a repeatable playbook
- Analyze how leading LLMs source and surface information, identifying opportunities to influence inclusion, ranking, and citation in generative results.
- Optimize structured content for retrieval by generative engines: including schema markup, FAQ patterns, internal linking, and AI-friendly semantic chunking.
- Ensure our brand and client content is present in high-authority public datasets, knowledge graphs, and other citation sources LLMs depend on.
- Track emerging features and ranking behavior across platforms like Google SGE, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bing Copilot, Claude, and others.
- Run regular visibility audits across major AI surfaces and produce tactical recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with SEO, content, and dev teams to implement changes that support both traditional search and AI-driven search experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in SEO, LLM research, or AI search optimization — but we’re flexible on titles if you can demonstrate results.
- Deep understanding of how LLMs retrieve, cite, and rank content (RAG, embeddings, token limits, prompt design, etc.).
- Working knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals: HTML, schema markup, content structure, crawlability, site architecture.
- Familiarity with semantic SEO tools (Surfer, InLinks, MarketMuse, etc.) and standard SEO platforms (Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush).
- Bonus: experience with prompt engineering, knowledge graphs, or vector search.
- Highly self-directed — you thrive in ambiguity, create clarity from complexity, and test new hypotheses weekly.
- Clear communicator — capable of translating AI search behavior into actionable next steps for content and dev teams.
