About the role

The Intern Success Coordinator carries out the mission of Protect Life Michigan (PLM) by overseeing the success and retention of our Summer Internship Program interns. This includes serving as a mentor to interns, overseeing intern support raising, handling communication with interns and intern parents before and during the internship, and overseeing performance management. The Intern Success Coordinator’s purpose is to aid Protect Life Michigan in the internship planning process, as well as developing interns professionally and personally to equip them for effective pro-life activism and leadership during and after the internship. The Intern Success Coordinator will report to the Internship Program Manager.


This position can be filled by a part-time or full-time applicant and will require frequent in-person work in Metro Detroit, May-August and remote work the remainder of the year.


What you'll do

Evaluate Intern Apologetics and Outreach Skills

  • Attend internship outreaches regularly to shadow and coach interns in outreach tactics and apologetics
  • Provide feedback on intern homework
  • Create and implement improvement plan for struggling interns in collaboration with Internship Program Manager

Intern Communication and Mentorship

  • Serve as primary communicator with interns and their parents before and during the Summer Internship Program
  • Attend and assist in leading intern parent meeting alongside Internship Program Manager
  • Review weekly intern check-in forms
  • Be present to interns, regularly setting aside time to build relationships
  • Regularly participate in intern bonding and activities
  • Lead bi-weekly team leader and house leader check-in meetings to answer questions,  provide feedback, and encourage intern leaders

Intern Support Raising

  • Communicate with Support Raising Specialist to coordinate intern support raising timeline and plan
  • Attend and assist in facilitating Intern Support Raising Bootcamps
  • Provide support raising coaching to interns on a weekly basis
    • Lead weekly coaching meetings with interns
    • Review weekly forms and address any missed goals

Internship Planning

  • Collaborate with other developers to execute the planning of the Summer Internship Program
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects related to the planning and execution of the Summer Internship Program
  • Use agile project management methodology to complete projects
  • Break projects down into smaller tasks and deadlines
  • Attend all developer team meetings such as planning meetings and sprint huddles
  • Routinely give and implement feedback to ensure quality and cohesiveness 

Report to Internship Program Manager

  • Participate in weekly 1:1s
  • Regularly communicate intern progress and concerns with Internship Program Manager
  • Receive regular professional development

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the pro-life movement and the mission of PLM.
  • Passionate and positive view of support-raising and/or fundraising, experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively and thoroughly communicate in person, and in writing.
  • A positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to organize effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
  • Flexible in-person and remote work schedule, and the ability to work nights/weekends as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and productively.
  • Experience in conversational pro-life outreach.
  • Deep understanding of pro-life apologetics and PLM.
  • Competence in and ability to provide radically candid feedback on a regular basis.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and to care personally. 


Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits are determined by the needs of the individual, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include:

  • Protect Michigan is a support-raising organization. The salary and all expenses associated with this position will be fundraised by the candidate. Protect Life Michigan will provide training and coaching in order to help the candidate reach full support and will pay the candidate while they raise support. We have an excellent track record of helping job candidates reach full support: 85% of our candidates have reached full support within 2-3 months.
