Job Purpose

A Protect Life Michigan (PLM) Campus Activist Apprentice (CAA) carries out the mission of PLM by working one-on-one with a campus group and pro-life students. The CAA’s purpose is to develop pro-life students into leaders in the pro-life movement through mentorship, coaching, and service. The CAA will work with a designated school (to be determined by the individual’s location). CAAs report to the Campus Activist Supervisor.


This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week), commonly reserved for college students. 


What you'll do


Recruit: The CAA will assist student leaders in growing the Protect Life group at their school.

Examples of this include:

  • Regularly attend Protect Life campus meetings and events.
  • Clipboard, table, and present on campus.


Equip: The CAA will seek to equip pro-life students to better communicate the pro-life message in a loving and persuasive way.

Examples of this include:

  • Conduct trainings and workshops on campus.
  • Help plan and facilitate large-scale events on campus.
  • Distribute resources to students about the pro-life movement and ways they can be involved.
  • Organize and participate in regular outreach on campus.


Network: The CAA will work to create an environment of collaboration and unity between students and the pro-life movement.

Examples of this include:

  • Host team-building events and activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between their student group and other pro-life organizations.
  • Actively encourage students to pursue full-time work in the pro-life movement.


Qualifications

  • Commitment to the pro-life movement and the mission of Protect Life Michigan.
  • Ability to commit to joining the team for one school year
  • Passionate and positive view of support-raising and/or fundraising. Support raising is necessary for this role. A positive view of support raising is part of PLM’s culture.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, and in writing, including public speaking.
  • A positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to organize effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
  • Flexible work schedule, and the ability to work nights/weekends as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and productively.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Experience in a campus pro-life group is preferred.


Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits are determined by the needs of the individual, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include: 

  • This position requires support raising. The first year in this role requires half of the salary to be raised. For any following years, the full salary must be raised.
    • Protect Life Michigan will provide training and coaching to help the candidate reach full support. We have an excellent track record of helping job candidates reach full support. All applicants must be supportive of this approach and open to engaging in it.
