About the role

The Field Welder is expected to be a versatile Field Operations professional who continually develops new technical skills as Aalo Atomics' needs expand and change. Welding is the primary technical discipline of the role, but Field Welders are not expected to only weld. They must possess basic mechanical aptitude, be capable of supporting general field work, and be willing to operate basic heavy equipment and material-handling equipment when qualified and assigned.

What you'll do

The Field Welder is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Field Operations Department by performing high-quality welding, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and field support activities. This position requires travel to various work locations and the ability to perform precision welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other materials in accordance with approved procedures, engineering drawings, and work instructions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform precision welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other materials using qualified processes and approved procedures.
  • Execute welding, fabrication, repair, fit-up, and installation activities in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, work instructions, and applicable procedures.
  • Travel to company facilities, project sites, vendor locations, and other work locations as required to support Field Operations activities.
  • Read and interpret fabrication prints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, procedures, and technical work instructions.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned work in a safe, accurate, and disciplined manner.
  • Inspect completed work for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and conformance with the applicable procedure or work instruction.
  • Assist with equipment installation, assembly, maintenance, testing, material movement, and other field support activities as project needs dictate.
  • Operate basic heavy machinery, material-handling equipment, power tools, and field support equipment when trained, qualified, and assigned.
  • Support the setup, organization, housekeeping, and maintenance of field work areas, tools, welding equipment, and materials

Qualifications and Professional Development

  • Qualify, maintain, and expand proficiency in welding processes and materials as required by company needs and project assignments.
  • Develop and maintain capability in processes such as GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), stainless steel welding, carbon steel welding, and additional welding processes introduced by the company.
  • Learn and master new welding methods, equipment, tooling, and field processes as projects and company requirements evolve.
  • Cross-train in field disciplines outside of welding and develop practical skills that increase the flexibility and capability of the Field Operations team.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, accept coaching, and pursue qualifications needed to support changing operational requirements.

Operational Expectations

  • Maintain strong basic mechanical aptitude and apply practical problem-solving skills to field work.
  • Work effectively as part of a field team and support tasks outside the traditional scope of welding when needed to accomplish project objectives.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, work environments, schedules, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain a professional, safety-conscious, and quality-focused approach while representing Aalo Atomics at all work locations.
  • Place team effectiveness and project success above narrow trade boundaries; the ability to learn and apply new skills is valued more highly than mastery of a single task or process.

Position Philosophy

A Field Welder's job is to support and promote the success of Field Operations and Aalo Atomics as a whole. The strongest field teams are built from people who can learn quickly, adapt to new challenges, and contribute across multiple disciplines. Welding expertise is essential, but versatility, mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and a continuous-learning mindset are equally important to success in this role.
