Talent Associate

ABOUT ACTIONIST

Actionist is a boutique strategy and M&A advisory firm serving corporate and investor clients on their most important strategic decisions. The firm works with leading companies in financial services, consumer/retail, institutional investing, business services, and technology across the functions of strategic planning, growth management, organizational enablement, investment support, and business transformation.

Our People function is run by the Head of Talent who owns everything from recruiting and onboarding to performance management and learning and development. As we grow, we are looking for our first People hire: a Talent Assocaite who will work closely with the Head of Talent to raise the quality and consistency of everything we do for our people.

YOUR IMPACT

You will be a true generalist, owning meaningful work across the full People lifecycle. Rather than sitting in one lane, you will flex across talent acquisition, professional development, performance management, and HR operations depending on where the firm needs you most. You will be the connector between our Head of Talent and the broader consultant population, and your work will be visible and meaningful from day one.

Talent acquisition (~50%)

  • Own the end-to-end recruiting process for analyst and associate-level hires, from sourcing, screening and interviews through offer and close
  • Lead our on-campus recruiting strategy at target schools, including planning and executing events, maintaining relationships with career offices, and cultivating candidates
  • Manage the recruiting funnel in Rippling, ensuring data is accurate and reporting is timely
  • Train consultants to conduct interviews effectively and represent the firm well to candidates
  • Build and maintain our pipeline of experienced hire candidates through LinkedIn direct outreach, engagement with third party recruiters and other candidate sourcing channels
  • Develop and enhance our recruiting materials, including case prep resources and firm value proposition content by candidate audience

Talent management and professional development (~30%)

  • Support the onboarding experience for new hires
  • Coordinate and execute training programs across tenure levels, working with the Head of Talent to manage both internal facilitators and external vendors
  • Provide coordination and logistical support for the bi-annual performance review process
  • Support the bi-annual People Survey process, from survey launch and data collection through synthesis and presentation

HR operations (~20%)

  • Assist with HR administration in Rippling, including onboarding workflows, data updates, and basic reporting
  • Coordinate logistics for monthly all hands Team Meetings, including agenda preparation and gathering inputs from firm leaders
  • Support weekly staffing coordination, including preparation for the staffing meeting and follow-up communications
  • Maintain and update the contractor database, ensuring records are current and accessible
  • Support ad hoc HR and People projects as they arise, including research, benchmarking, and process improvement initiatives

YOUR GROWTH

This role is designed for someone who wants to build a career in People and Talent within a high-caliber professional services environment. You will have direct access to and mentorship from our Head of Talent, and will have opportunities to work directly with each of our Partners. You will get exposure to the full breadth of the People function in a way that would take years to accumulate at a larger firm. Over time, as Actionist grows, this role is expected to evolve: there is a clear path toward deeper ownership of a functional area, whether that is talent acquisition, professional development, or something else that plays to your strengths.

When you join us, you will have:

  • Direct mentorship from our Head of Talent, with regular feedback and a genuine investment in your development
  • Broad exposure across the People function at a fast-growing firm that moves quickly and holds itself to a high standard
  • Real ownership from day one: this is not a coordination role, it is a contribution role
  • A front-row seat to how a high-performing boutique consulting firm thinks about its people, culture, and talent strategy
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3+ years of experience in a People, Talent, HR, or related role at a professional services firm (management consulting firm strongly preferred; MBB a plus)
  • Recruiting experience is strongly preferred; campus recruiting experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with HR/People systems (Rippling experience is a bonus, but not required)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping details
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with consultants and firm leadership
  • A proactive, self-starting disposition: you notice what needs to be done and do it without being asked
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive people matters
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and travel to campus as needed
  • Genuine enthusiasm for People and Talent work, and curiosity about what great looks like in a professional services context
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to thrive in an environment that is growing and evolving

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The base salary range for this role is ~$100,000 to $130,000, depending on experience. Actionist offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid premiums for medical (PPO), dental, and vision coverage. Additional benefits include programs such as FSA/HSA, paid family leave, 401k, and paid time off. This role is hybrid.
