About the Client Engineering Team

The Client Engineering team builds and maintains Aerospike’s Smart Client Libraries — high-performance software used by customer applications to communicate with the Aerospike database.

These libraries are much more than simple SDKs or connectors. They manage cluster topology, request routing, connection pools, retries, failover, concurrency, and performance optimization, helping Aerospike deliver consistent, low-latency transactions at scale.

The team works across multiple programming languages and sits directly between the Aerospike database and customer applications, making it a critical part of the overall product experience.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong product engineering fundamentals and experience building scalable, high-performance systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will contribute to Aerospike’s client libraries, solve complex performance and reliability problems, and work closely with engineers across the global Client and Server teams.

What You’ll Do

• Build and enhance Aerospike Smart Client Libraries.
• Work on client-server communication, networking, concurrency, connection management, routing, retries, and failure handling.
• Diagnose complex performance and production issues.
• Optimize client behavior for latency, throughput, reliability, and scalability.
• Work closely with Server Engineering to support new database capabilities.
• Contribute to API design and improve the overall developer experience.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, testing, and engineering best practices.

What You Bring

• 6–9 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in any of the 2 languages in Java, Go,C,C#,Rust.
• Strong product development experience — application or middleware-heavy backgrounds are not the target.
• Good understanding of concurrency, networking, distributed systems, and performance engineering.
• Experience building scalable backend, platform, infrastructure, SDK, library, or systems software.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, production-quality code.
• Experience working on high-throughput or low-latency systems is highly desirable.

Preferred

• Experience with SDKs or client libraries is valuable, but not mandatory.
• Exposure to NoSQL/distributed databases.

Location: Bangalore | Hybrid – 3 days in office
