Open Roles

Fund Accounting, Director (WEX)

Alchelyst is a client solutions and infrastructure partner for private markets asset managers. Purpose-built for the expanding demands and sophistication of global private markets, the firm offers a comprehensive managed service offering that can support GPs, private wealth funds and investors. Alchelyst has offices in the US, Ireland, UK, Luxembourg and India.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Head of Fund Accounting, you will lead a global team responsible for the fund accounting and reporting of a portfolio of alternative investment products, across both open-ended and closed-ended structures, ensuring all deliverables are met accurately and on time. You will be the senior point of contact for each client's controller team, and accountable for every NAV, capital call and investor deliverable your team produces.

You will be at the nexus of change in our industry. Alternatives are moving toward more frequent valuation, including daily NAVs, and toward hybrid vehicles that combine open-ended and closed-ended features. You will help shape how Alchelyst services both.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own client delivery across your portfolio. You will ensure NAVs (daily, monthly or quarterly), capital calls, distributions and investor statements are accurate and delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Be the senior contact for clients' controller teams. You will build strong relationships with client CFOs and controllers, handle escalations, and provide practical accounting guidance so clients see Alchelyst as an extension of their team.
  • Turn fund documents into correct outcomes. You will interpret limited partnership agreements and side letters, and sign off on management fee, carried interest, waterfall and investor allocation calculations.
  • Lead audits and year-end. You will coordinate year-end audits and tax deliverables with external auditors and tax advisers, aiming for clean, on-time sign-offs with few adjustments.
  • Lead and develop a global team. You will set priorities across locations, review work, coach Managers, and build the next generation of senior fund accountants through regular feedback.
  • Strengthen controls and improve how we work. You will keep the team within our control framework, address the root cause of errors to prevent issues from recurring, and help standardize and automate manual steps so the team can support daily NAVs and hybrid vehicles at scale.
  • Support new and growing clients. You will help onboard new funds and client transitions, and identify opportunities to expand the services we provide to existing clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10–15 years in fund accounting, fund administration or audit of alternative investment funds, including at least 4 years leading teams with managers reporting to you.
  • Hands-on knowledge of alternative investment funds, and how fund documents drive fees, waterfalls, NAV and investor allocations.
  • A change-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset: you see a better way of working, make the case for it, and lead the team through it.
  • Experience with private markets fund accounting and investor reporting technology (such as FINBOURNE, LemonEdge, Vincillium, BlocRecon, Investran or eFront), and a track record of using technology and automation to improve how work is delivered.
  • A degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, business or another analytical discipline, or equivalent professional experience. A professional accounting or investment qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) is a plus.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to more than one alternatives strategy (e.g. private equity, private credit, real assets, hedge funds) or to both open-ended and closed-ended vehicles. If your background is mainly in one, you will be supported to pick up the others.

What Success Looks Like:

  • 3-6 months:  You know each client's funds, key terms and reporting calendar. You have met every client's controller team and completed your first period-end close as reviewer and sign-off.
  • 6-9 months: Your portfolio delivers on time, every time, with no client escalations about quality. You have set clear priorities and regular feedback across the global team, and fixed the root cause of at least one recurring issue so it does not happen again.
  • 9-12 months: You have led a full year-end audit cycle with on-time sign-offs and minimal adjustments. Client feedback is positive, team turnover is low, and you have helped onboard at least one new fund or client.
  • Ongoing: Clients see you as their trusted adviser. Your team is ready to step up, and you are a visible contributor to how Alchelyst's fund accounting practice standardizes and automates.
