Position Overview:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer, NPI to support the introduction of new electromechanical products into production.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Lead. The successful candidate will support Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams with practical NPI activities including prototype and pilot builds, manufacturing documentation, process development, data collection, build issue follow-up, and production-readiness preparation.

This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to develop strong hands-on experience at the intersection of product design and manufacturing.

Note: Only local applications (Metro Vancouver area) will be considered for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design and build reviews; identify and document manufacturability, assembly, test, quality, tooling, and process risks for review by the lead engineer.
  • Help plan and support prototype, engineering, pilot, and early-production builds.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, visual aids, process flows, routings, build reports, and training materials.
  • Assist with the development, sourcing, validation, and maintenance of fixtures, jigs, tooling, assembly aids, and test-station requirements.
  • Collect and analyze build data, including yield, defects, rework, cycle time, labor content, scrap, and recurring production issues.
  • Support root-cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Lead and Quality team.
  • Work with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and suppliers to follow up on assigned build issues, first articles, documentation updates, and process changes.
  • Support Engineering Change Order implementation by updating production documentation and ensuring approved changes are correctly reflected on the manufacturing floor.
  • Help prepare manufacturing-release and production-transfer packages for new products.
  • Identify and escalate risks, blockers, and unclear requirements promptly.
  • Support continuous-improvement activities in assembly, test, documentation, workflow, and production readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Two to five years of relevant manufacturing-engineering, NPI, industrialization, production-support, or electromechanical-product experience.
  • Exposure to prototype, pilot, or production builds in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and production-process documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing metrics such as yield, defects, cycle time, rework, scrap, and capacity.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with production teams, physical products, fixtures, and build documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask good questions, and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Working proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with PCBA integration, electromechanical assembly, test fixtures, cable/harness assemblies, plastics, machining, or injection-molded parts.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP, PLM/PDM, ECO/ECR, or document-control systems.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, FMEA, first-article inspection, or basic statistical analysis.
  • Experience working with suppliers or contract manufacturers.
