About the role:

Areté Health is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting team.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and helping build a strong financial foundation as an organization grows. You'll manage day-to-day accounting activities, support financial reporting, and partner closely with our VP of FP&A, CFO, and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency across our multi-location healthcare organization.

What you'll want to know

  • Compensation: $80,000–$100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
  • Location: Remote.
  • Work environment: Reports directly to the VP of FP&A and works closely with the CFO, billing, payroll, and operational teams.
  • What makes this opportunity different: You'll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of the accounting function, strengthen financial processes, and help shape the systems and controls that support Areté Health's continued growth.

What you'll do:

  • Own full-cycle accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Manage daily cash reporting and oversee accounts payable through Bill.com, including invoice processing, vendor management, payments, and 1099 reporting.
  • Record and reconcile payroll, revenue, and accounts receivable activity using information from our HRIS, billing, and EMR systems.
  • Partner with the CFO and VP of FP&A to prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, investor reporting, and other financial analyses.
  • Develop and improve accounting policies, internal controls, reconciliation procedures, and month-end close processes.
  • Support the financial setup and integration of new locations, ensuring accurate accounting structures and reporting as Areté Health expands.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve discrepancies, streamline workflows, and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP.

What we're looking for:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable accounting/ERP system.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare accounting, particularly within a multi-site physical therapy or outpatient healthcare organization.
  • Experience with multi-location or multi-entity accounting.
  • Familiarity with Bill.com, payroll/HRIS platforms, and healthcare billing or EMR systems.
  • CPA designation, progress toward CPA licensure, or MBA.
  • Previous experience within an investor-backed or private equity-supported organization.

What you can expect from us:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • A collaborative, people-first organization focused on patient care and operational excellence.
  • The opportunity to work directly with senior finance leadership and contribute to meaningful financial decisions.
  • Ownership and autonomy in your day-to-day responsibilities.
  • The ability to improve existing processes, implement stronger controls, and help establish scalable accounting practices.
  • Professional growth opportunities as Areté Health continues to expand its footprint.
