Overview

As the Director of Compliance – BSA Officer, you will be responsible for leading and evolving our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) programs. You will be the primary point of contact for BSA/AML matters, responsible for managing a sophisticated program that spans crypto buy/sell, international money remittance, neo-bank activity and stablecoin payment rails. This is a role for someone who is autonomous and can architect strategy while being willing to dig into the data and resolve complex audit and exam findings. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assume full responsibility for Bakkt’s BSA/AML and OFAC programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of the Bank Secrecy Act and global regulatory expectations. 
• Act as the primary architect for compliance with NYDFS Part 504, ensuring robust transaction monitoring, filtering, and annual certifications. 
• Lead the resolution of previous exam and audit findings, ensuring processes are designed and implemented to prevent issue recurrence. 
• Integrate Artificial Intelligence and machine learning tools into all aspects of the program. 
• Provide tactical compliance guidance on high-growth areas, including stablecoin payments, neo-banking features, and international remittance corridors. 
• Present clear, data-driven reports to the Board and senior leadership regarding the health of the program and the evolving risk landscape.  

Requirements 

• 10+ years in BSA/AML leadership, specifically in FinTech, Neo-banking, and/or the Crypto/Digital Asset space, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
• CAMS certified. 
• Proven track record of managing successful regulatory examinations. 
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where ambiguity is common. 
• Strong background regulatory and compliance concepts, practices, and procedures to effectively manage compliance issues to achieve defined outcomes and desired results.  
• Mature communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to concisely communicate status, key issues, and resolutions in manners appropriate to the audience.
