The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I will operate and maintain Columbia Helicopters’ Wastewater Treatment Plant, drain fields, and associated pump station(s) in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, under the direct and indirect supervision of the WWTP Responsible Operator and/or Environmental Program Manager.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Collects samples and identifies concentrations of chemical, physical or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.
  • Gathers and tests wastewater samples for optimal plant operational efficiency.
  • Monitors performance of all equipment, gauges, pumps, and valves, etc.
  • Performs all operational maintenance and repairs on applicable wastewater treatment systems, to include associated pump stations, in compliance with regulatory guidance and safe work practices.
  • Prepares daily paperwork for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Responsible Operator (RO) and HSE Manager for review.
  • Maintains the Wastewater Facility in a clean and hygienic manner.
  • Participates in a variety of other Environmental Safety efforts (approximately 30% of position).
  • Charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results.
  • Analyzes and evaluates current operating procedures and maintenance activities and recommend new and improved practices.
  • Contains and disposes of hazardous waste generated by the plant.
  • Maintains instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flowmeter and other monitoring equipment.
  • Operates and maintains sewage pump stations and drain fields.
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with Company’s Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least one year’s experience in Wastewater Treatment Operations required
  • Oregon DEQ Grade I Wastewater Operator Certificate preferred
  • Oregon DEQ Grade I Wastewater Collection System Operator Certificate preferred
  • Basic understanding of Environmental Safety
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally, and in written format
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Ability to seek out work, recommend projects, and work independently
  • Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as a U.S. Person
