Orthotics and Prosthetics CAD Modifier
Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics is seeking an Orthotics and Prosthetics CAD Modifier to prepare and modify digital models used to fabricate custom orthotic and prosthetic devices. Working remotely with clinicians and fabrication staff, you will translate supplied scans, measurements, and clinical instructions into accurate digital models for production.
This position requires practical experience with orthotics and prosthetics computer-aided design software and patient-specific model modification. You will apply clinician-directed changes, check model accuracy, and prepare files for fabrication while maintaining organized case records.
What You Will Do
· Review incoming scans, measurements, work orders, and clinician instructions for completeness and consistency.
· Modify digital models using orthotics and prosthetics CAD software according to clinician specifications and established procedures.
· Apply prescribed buildups, reductions, reliefs, contour changes, and trimlines within your training and assigned responsibilities.
· Check model dimensions, orientation, anatomical landmarks, and requested changes before submitting files for review or production.
· Clarify incomplete scans, conflicting measurements, and unclear modification instructions with the clinical or fabrication team.
· Prepare approved files for the fabrication workflow using required formats and naming conventions.
· Maintain organized records of source files, model changes, revisions, and completed work.
· Coordinate priorities and communicate progress, technical issues, and potential delays to the team.
· Protect patient information and follow company procedures for secure access, file handling, and remote work.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of professional experience modifying patient-specific digital models for custom orthotic or prosthetic devices in an O&P clinical practice, fabrication laboratory, or central fabrication facility.
- Proficiency with O&P-specific CAD software used for digital model modification, including importing scans, applying clinician-directed modifications, and preparing files for fabrication.
- Production experience applying prescribed buildups, reductions, reliefs, contour changes, and trimlines to orthotic or prosthetic models.
- Working knowledge of relevant anatomy, anatomical landmarks, and how model modifications affect device fabrication and fit.
- Ability to review scans, measurements, and work orders; identify incomplete or conflicting information; and obtain clarification before proceeding.
- Experience preparing and checking digital files for carving, milling, or additive manufacturing.
- Ability to complete assigned CAD cases independently within clinician specifications, maintain accurate revision histories, and deliver production-ready files within established deadlines.
- Ability to work remotely with reliable communication and follow company procedures for protecting patient information.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of direct experience in O&P digital model modification.
- Experience modifying models for both orthotic and prosthetic devices.
- Hands-on O&P fabrication experience, including physical model preparation or modification.
- Experience supporting multiple clinicians or managing cases within a central fabrication workflow.
What You Can Expect
- Remote collaboration with clinicians and fabrication staff.
- Work focused on patient-specific digital models and fabrication requirements.
- Technical work that supports the production of custom orthotic and prosthetic devices.
Compensation
Base Pay Range: $25.00 to $29.00 per hour
