Position Summary:

We are seeking a Model Product Manager to own the strategy and execution of our data-driven model training. In this unique role, you will sit at the crossroad of product management, data operations, and R&D. Your mission is to ensure that the right data is collected and utilized to continuously improve our robots’ performance for customer tasks. You will define success metrics for each new robotic task, guide the Data Collection team on what data to gather, and work closely with our research engineers to turn that data into better models. This role requires both technical acumen in AI/ML and strong coordination skills – you’ll be devising experimental plans one moment and communicating results and next steps with stakeholders the next. It’s an opportunity to shape how cutting-edge robotic capabilities are developed by managing the feedback loop between the real world and the lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Task Definition & Success Metrics: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define the product requirements for each robotic task.
  • Data Strategy & Planning: Design the data collection strategy to meet those success criteria. Work closely with the Operations PgM and data collectors to schedule and execute data collection campaigns accordingly.
  • SOP Development Support: Partner with internal teams to develop effective Standard Operating Procedures for data collection on new tasks.
  • Data Analysis & Model Feedback: Monitor model training runs and evaluate performance against the defined metrics. Provide actionable data-driven feedback to internal teams.
  • Coordinate Model Improvement Loops: Act as the project manager for the model training cycle. Organize regular model review meetings to discuss results with researchers and engineers.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as a bridge between technical teams and customer-facing teams. Communicate progress and findings to product management and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Background: Strong foundation in machine learning, data science, or robotics. You might have a BS/MS in a relevant field (Computer Science, Robotics, etc.) or equivalent hands-on experience as an ML Engineer, Data Scientist, or similar.
  • Product/Program Management Experience: 3+ years experience in a product management or technical program management role, ideally working on AI/ML products or data-intensive projects. Prior experience specifically managing the lifecycle of an ML model (from data collection through deployment) is a big plus.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Proficient in analyzing datasets and metrics to derive insights. Comfortable with tools like Python/Pandas or SQL to inspect data and verify hypotheses.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent at communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on & Curious: Willingness to get your hands dirty with the robots and data.
  • Adaptable & Strategic: Able to operate in ambiguity. Self-starter with a strategic mindset to align data/model work with broader business goals (e.g. which capabilities will unlock new markets) and flexibility to adjust course when experiments don’t go as expected. A passion for AI/robotics and the drive to bridge cutting-edge tech with real customer value is essential.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and equity in a seed-stage venture-backed startup
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Daily catered lunches and dinner with a fully stocked kitchen
  • Professional growth and development through training, mentorship, and challenging projects
