Senior Tax APAC will play a central role in managing and coordinating EdgeConneX's tax matters across the Asia-Pacific region, with scope to expand as the business grows into new markets. Working closely with the in-house global tax team and reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, APAC based in Kuala Lumpur, this role is responsible for driving operating model setups, grants and incentives, transfer pricing, and international tax strategy across EdgeConneX's rapidly expanding APAC footprint.

EdgeConneX currently operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Japan, and South Korea, with further market expansion in the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation of operating models in new markets – Set up operating models in new markets that work for our business, customers, lenders and vendors. This includes reviewing customer and vendor contracts from a tax perspective, including SST/GST/VAT, withholding tax, tax gross-up, invoicing/e-invoicing, tax exemptions and other relevant tax clauses, and supporting negotiations on these terms. Also includes coordination with the real estate team upon acquisition of land.
  • Grants, incentives & rebates - Identify, obtain and manage tax incentives, grants, rebates and customs/duty relief available across APAC. Coordinate applications with relevant government authorities and monitor ongoing compliance with incentive conditions and commitments.
  • Audit, Tax Provisioning & Statutory Reporting - Act as a key point of contact for statutory auditors across the region, ensuring proper recognition and disclosure of tax provisions in financial statements. Address auditor inquiries and maintain alignment between tax reporting and financial audits.
  • Transfer Pricing - Oversee APAC tax compliance and reporting activities performed by external service providers. Review key deliverables, manage timelines and coordinate resolution of tax technical matters, audits, queries and disputes with tax authorities.
  • Tax Advisory & Strategic Support - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across APAC jurisdictions and assess their impact on the business. Collaborate with the in-house tax team and external counsel to implement changes and ensure continued compliance and efficiency.
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting. Execution is outsourced to an external auditor, and the Senior Tax APAC is still a liaison in case of tax technical issues or disputes with tax authorities.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of international tax, transfer pricing, and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership and drive outcomes independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable working across time zones in close collaboration with teams in Europe and the United States.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in handling complex tax matters.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional APAC languages is an advantage.

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of experience in tax or accounting within a multinational enterprise, with strong exposure to APAC tax environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in international tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax planning strategies.
  • Proven track record of working with statutory auditors and managing relationships with external service providers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Professional qualification in tax or accounting (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
