Technology Systems Manager

About the role

The Technology Systems Manager engages as a strategic partner to the school’s leadership team to ensure our IT systems, hardware, and software are managed effectively and efficiently and appropriately support the school’s strategic initiatives. The Technology Systems Manager serves as both a strategic leader and a hands-on partner, collaborating across departments to implement effective technology solutions, support teaching and learning, and plans for future growth. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school’s technology ecosystem, supporting a community of approximately 350+ students, faculty, and staff.


The Technology Systems Manager partners with the school’s leadership team to ensure IT systems, infrastructure, hardware, and software are effectively managed and aligned with the school’s strategic priorities. This role serves as both a strategic thought partner to guide technology decisions that support teaching, learning, and institutional growth. In addition, this role also provides hands-on collaboration across departments to implement technology solutions, enhance user experience, and support innovation in the classroom and beyond.

 

A key responsibility of this position is to collaborate on the planning and development of a new campus building, providing vision and expertise in the selection, design, and implementation of technology systems, tools, and infrastructure. This includes ensuring that future-facing solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with the school’s long-term goals.

 

The Technology Systems Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the school’s technology environment, serving a community of approximately 350+ students, faculty, and staff.

 

This is a full-time, exempt, year-round, administrator position reporting to the Chief Finance & Operations Officer (CFOO).

Location & Schedule

The person in this role must work in-person on the school campus in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Epiphany School does not cover or reimburse relocation costs and/or expenses.

 

Standard work hours are typically Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm. Staff meetings typically run through 5:00pm on Wednesdays (dates will be communicated ahead of time).

 

This position may require infrequent evening and weekend work to support school community events.


What you'll do

Systems Management

  • Oversee the administration, integrity, and support of enterprise application systems, licenses, databases (and access and permissions for all) used across academic and administrative departments
  • Ensure the school’s network, servers, data storage, Wi-Fi, phone system, AV systems, and printing infrastructure provide reliable, high-performing service
  • Maintain and continuously improve processes related to security, risk management, data retention, backup, compliance, and disaster recovery, providing guidance across departments
  • Oversee deployment of hardware and software, including system migrations, rollouts, upgrades, and lifecycle management
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset management systems for all technology equipment

Faculty, Staff & Student Support

  • Act as a visible, approachable, and responsive technology partner within the school community, delivering a strong commitment to customer service
  • Provide and oversee timely, high-quality on campus help desk support, prioritizing minimal disruption to teaching and learning
  • Design and deliver onboarding and ongoing training for faculty, staff, and students
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly documentation and support resources
  • Support classroom technology, including projectors, interactive displays, AV systems, and instructional tools
  • Support student technology use, including device management and responsible use practices
  • Support faculty BYOD environments where applicable (ie. mobile devices)
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to support academic and operational goals
  • Support remote/hybrid learning and/or community initiatives as needed

Technology Program Management

  • Manage the school’s technology budget, including operating and capital expenses
  • Lead technology-related projects, including system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and new implementations
  • Partner with the CFOO to manage a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with the school’s mission and growth
  • Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, and governance practices
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and consultants
  • Oversee third-party support to ensure system reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate additional technology support resources as needed

Data Systems & Applications

  • Administer and support key school systems & applications (e.g., student information systems, learning platforms, admissions/enrollment tools, facilities systems)
  • Manage vendor relationships and system performance, including long-term external technology partner
  • Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and appropriate security controls across systems

Website & Communications Support

  • Collaborate with Communications/Marketing team to support technical aspects of the school’s website
  • Interface with external developers or platforms to resolve technical issues and support enhancements

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems management, preferably in an educational or mission-driven environment
  • Ability to think strategically while also executing operational and hands-on technical work
  • Experience managing network infrastructure, enterprise systems, security practices, and end-user support services or coordinating technology projects and implementations
  • Strong systems administration and troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network environments
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to support users of varying technical proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts clearly
  • Vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Budget management and resource allocation skills
  • Proactive and collaborative, with a strong commitment to building relationships across the school community
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or urgent situations
  • Self-directed, reliable, and adaptable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Curious, solutions-oriented, and motivated to continuously improve systems and processes
  • Understanding of AV systems, classroom technology, and instructional tools
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering technology training for a range of learning profiles
  • Knowledge of device management in environments such as BYOD and 1:1 programs
  • Experience with school-based systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Rippling, Finalsite, Clever, Seesaw) preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a relatively confined space.


Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $125,000 based on years of experience, education, skill, and internal equity in line with our school’s Administrator pay scale. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors.
