Founding Head of Marketing

The energy transition is increasing grid complexity at exactly the moment utilities need to move faster. Gridsight gives utilities a real-time, dynamic understanding of how power flows through the distribution grid. Our Grid Intelligence Platform combines utility data, AI, and physics-based modeling to help utilities connect customers faster, unlock existing capacity, improve network visibility, and manage distributed energy resources at scale.

We recently raised our Series B to accelerate platform development and expansion in the United States.

We operate in a complex enterprise market where technical credibility, customer outcomes, trusted relationships, and a clear point of view matter. We are looking for a Head of Marketing to own and build the marketing function that supports our next stage of growth, with product marketing and account-based growth at its core.

The role

Gridsight is hiring its first marketing leader. As Head of Marketing, you will own and build a product-marketing-led function that helps Gridsight win and expand strategic utility customers, establish market authority, and scale its commercial motion in the United States.

You will work closely with the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer to shape Gridsight’s go-to-market strategy and translate company and commercial priorities into a focused marketing plan. You will have significant ownership while partnering closely with the founders and leaders across Commercial, Product, Customer, and Engineering.

This is not a high-volume demand-generation role. Gridsight sells large, complex solutions to a concentrated set of utility buyers. Success will come from helping the company build trust, engage the right stakeholders, create internal consensus, progress strategic opportunities, expand customer relationships, and strengthen its market position.

This is also an AI-forward role. We are looking for someone who actively uses AI to improve the speed and quality of research, content development, account intelligence, personalization, and internal workflows – without compromising accuracy, judgment, or technical credibility.

You will own the evolution of the marketing function, including its strategy, operating model, team, and capabilities as Gridsight grows.

The role is based in San Francisco (open to remote with West Coast hours) and reports to the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer.

What you will own

Own and build the marketing function

  • Define Gridsight’s marketing strategy and roadmap in partnership with company and commercial leadership.
  • Set marketing goals, KPIs, and measurement systems that connect activity to account engagement, pipeline, expansion, and market position.
  • Own the marketing resource plan, including when to build internally and when to use agencies, contractors, and specialist partners.
  • Build AI-enabled workflows and reusable systems that increase the quality, speed, and leverage of the marketing function.
  • Own the marketing budget and allocate resources against the highest-impact commercial and market priorities.

Lead positioning and product marketing

  • Set and own Gridsight’s positioning, messaging architecture, value propositions, category narrative, and competitive framing.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear outcomes for utility executives, engineers, planners, operators, customer teams, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Build buyer- and use-case-specific narratives across sales and marketing assets.
  • Develop the sales plays, business cases, presentations, and enablement materials required to progress complex utility opportunities.
  • Lead marketing execution for launches and important market moments, with clear audiences, commercial objectives, and credible evidence.
  • Stay close to active opportunities, identify where buyers are getting stuck, and develop targeted narratives, proof, or tools to help the commercial team progress them.

Build an account-based motion

Define Gridsight’s account-based growth strategy across acquisition, expansion, and advocacy, and build the account-based motion that connects Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success around priority accounts.

  • Partner with Commercial leadership to define ICPs, priority segments, account tiers, buying groups, and the account-based plays required to win and expand them.
  • Build highly tailored programs for the most strategic utilities and repeatable account-based plays for the broader set of high-fit accounts.
  • Use relevant content, executive engagement, customer evidence, events, partners, and coordinated sales activity to engage priority buying group members.
  • Partner with Customer Success to deepen engagement, identify new stakeholders and use cases, and translate adoption and customer outcomes into expansion narratives.
  • Use account research and AI-enabled analysis to improve relevance, identify emerging priorities, and help account teams engage the right stakeholders with the right message.
  • Measure Marketing’s contribution to stakeholder engagement, executive access, opportunity progression, customer expansion, and advocacy.

Build customer proof, industry community, and market credibility

  • Define Gridsight’s content and market-credibility strategy around the issues, buyers, and channels that matter most to the business.
  • Turn customer outcomes and deployment insights into case studies, executive narratives, sales evidence, event content, and market education.
  • Build a focused content program around the questions, market shifts, and operational challenges that matter most to utility buyers.
  • Shape Gridsight’s executive voice and differentiated points of view on the market problems the company is positioned to solve.
  • Ensure priority content is structured and distributed to perform across traditional search, AI-powered discovery, industry channels, and strategic-account engagement.
  • Build a community of utility leaders and practitioners around shared challenges, creating high-value opportunities for peer learning, knowledge sharing, and relationship building through executive roundtables, customer forums, events, and other curated programs.
  • Turn customers and other trusted industry voices into advocates by creating opportunities for them to share their experiences through events, webinars, podcasts, case studies, and relevant industry communities.
  • Use customer evidence, peer-to-peer engagement, industry relationships, and high-quality content to strengthen Gridsight’s credibility and create a network of advocates across the utility ecosystem.

What success looks like

You will have:

  • Established clear positioning, buyer-specific narratives/messaging, and sales tools that are consistently used across the company.
  • Built account-based programs that improve stakeholder engagement and support priority opportunities and customer expansion.
  • Created a repeatable customer proof, reference, and advocacy engine.
  • Established a marketing roadmap, operating cadence, and measurement system.
  • Introduced AI-enabled workflows that improve productivity, personalization, and quality.
  • Built a marketing function with clear priorities, strong operating discipline, the right mix of internal and external capabilities, and a plan for scaling the team that matches company needs.
  • Established Marketing as a trusted partner to Commercial, Product, and Customer leadership and a measurable contributor to company growth.
  • Strengthened Gridsight’s credibility among the utility executives, operators, engineers, partners, and market influencers who matter.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years of B2B marketing experience, including meaningful experience in enterprise product marketing, account-based marketing, or a closely related role.
  • Experience building a marketing function, or a substantial part of one, in an early-stage or rapidly growing company.
  • Deep product marketing expertise, including positioning, messaging, sales enablement, customer research, content marketing, and product launches.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals with long sales and procurement cycles.
  • Experience building account-based programs in partnership with Sales and Customer Success across acquisition, expansion, and advocacy.
  • Experience turning customer outcomes into credible proof, references, stories, and commercial assets.
  • Experience building customer advocacy, community, or ecosystem programs that create meaningful peer engagement, word of mouth, and market validation.
  • Strong writing, narrative-development, and executive communication skills.
  • Experience setting marketing strategy, allocating resources, and balancing near-term commercial priorities with longer-term market-building investments.
  • The ability to prioritize competing needs and independently take high-quality work from insight through execution.
  • An AI-forward mindset and practical experience using AI to improve research, content creation, account intelligence, personalization, analysis, or marketing operations.
  • The judgment to determine where AI creates meaningful leverage and where human expertise, customer context, and careful review remain essential.
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, and developing high-performing teams and managing external partners.
  • Strong judgment, low ego, and the ability to work directly with founders, commercial leaders, customers, and technical teams.

Experience in energy, utilities, grid technology, climate technology, infrastructure software, or another complex enterprise category is valuable, but not essential.

Why join Gridsight

Electricity demand is accelerating, and utilities need better ways to identify capacity, connect customers, and make informed grid investments. Gridsight has differentiated technology, meaningful customer outcomes, strong investor backing, and a significant opportunity to grow in the United States.

As Gridsight’s Head of Marketing, you will work directly with the founders to shape the company’s go-to-market strategy, own and build the marketing function from the ground up, and define how Gridsight earns a leadership position in a critical and rapidly evolving market. You will have ownership of marketing strategy, budget, and execution, with the opportunity to build the marketing organization that supports Gridsight’s next stage of growth.
