Full-Time Accountant

Horizon Case Management Corp™ – “Hope on the Horizon”
Remote | 40 hours per week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern, Monday–Friday)

Position Summary

Reporting to the COO and Billing Manager, the Full-Time Accountant owns day-to-day accounting, monthly close, tax compliance, and budgeting in QuickBooks Online Advanced. This role is perfect for a seasoned U.S. accounting professional who seeks predictable morning hours and the satisfaction of designing tight, audit-ready books in a high-impact healthcare setting.


Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Post and categorize all bank and credit-card transactions; maintain a zero-balance clearing account.
  • Manage A/P and A/R workflows; perform daily cash-flow snapshot and variance alerts.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Maintain department budgets using QuickBooks Classes.
  • Generate a weekly budget-vs-actual dashboard with cost-saving recommendations.
  • Payroll Liaison
  • Reconcile bi-weekly payroll import from Rippling; verify deductions, PTO, and withholdings.
  • Month-End Close (5 Business Days)
  • Complete bank and credit-card reconciliations and all accrual, prepaid, and depreciation entries.
  • Produce P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash-Flow, AR/AP aging, and KPI pack for leadership review.
  • Tax & Year-End Support
  • Prepare 1099 filings, W-9 tracking, and sales-tax returns (MI and multi-state as needed).
  • Compile year-end workpapers for CPA; support S-corp 1120-S and state returns.
  • Internal Controls & Policy
  • Refine purchasing/expense-approval matrix; enforce segregation-of-duties and fraud-prevention checks.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years progressive U.S. accounting experience, including year-end close.
  • 2+ years hands-on QuickBooks Online Advanced experience with multi-class reporting.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll, 1099, sales/use-tax, and GAAP revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups); familiarity with Bill.com or Melio.
  • Strong written and verbal English; ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Secure, private home office and 50 Mbps internet connection.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and data-privacy best practices.
