Key Role:

Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as a mid-level AI / Data Engineer supporting a federal agency or other client's enterprise data management environment. Support the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and services that enable advanced analytics, machine learning readiness, and the modernization of Azure-based data infrastructure.

Strong client or customer engagement is required in this role. You will work directly with client data scientists, analysts, architects, and governance teams, and are expected to represent Intertwine Associates and the client with professionalism, responsiveness, and sound judgment at every touchpoint. This is a remote position. Assignments are matched to client needs and to each candidate's expertise and eligibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop production-grade ETL workflows using Python and Microsoft-based frameworks.
• Ingest, transform, and validate structured and unstructured data.
• Implement schema enforcement, data validation, and quality checks.
• Support Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, and Azure-based data services.
• Design workflow orchestration using Azure Data Factory or Microsoft Fabric / Foundry.
• Build Python-based data services using Pandas, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and related libraries.
• Develop API endpoints and microservices to support analytics and ML platform interoperability.
• Implement logging, monitoring, performance tuning, and operational reliability.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, architects, and governance teams.
• Apply data governance best practices for compliance, reproducibility, and auditability.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience developing or supporting advanced statistical, machine learning, or data pipeline solutions.
• Proficiency in Python, including Pandas.
• Strong SQL skills and experience integrating relational database sources.
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud environments.
• Experience with ETL development using Python and Microsoft technologies.
• Experience with data validation, schema enforcement, and quality assurance.
• Familiarity with open-source data processing libraries such as NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency may be required per contract.
• Ability to obtain an agency Public Trust clearance.

Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's, Ph.D., or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Microsoft Data Engineer certification (for example DP-203 or DP-700) or a related Azure certification.
• Knowledge of scalable, secure data engineering patterns in regulated environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure AI Foundry in production.
• Experience building API endpoints or microservices (for example FastAPI or Flask) for analytics and ML platforms.
• Experience supporting a federal agency or a regulated health, safety, or financial organization.

Compensation, Bonuses, and Other Incentives:

Intertwine Associates LLC offers a competitive compensation package. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000-$125,000 per year. This range is a good-faith estimate at the time of posting and reflects the base salary the company reasonably expects to offer for this role. Actual base salary will be determined based on lawful, job-related factors, including education, experience, specialized expertise, credentials, geographic location, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, client and contract requirements, and funding availability.

This position may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, signing or retention incentives, or other variable compensation, as stated in the applicable written offer or plan documents. Any bonus or incentive is not guaranteed and is subject to applicable plan terms, individual and company performance, client or contract requirements, funding availability, and applicable law. Bonuses and other incentives are separate from base salary and may be modified or discontinued. The salary range does not include potential bonuses, other incentive compensation, or benefits.
