Warehouse Freezer Forklift Driver

Job Summary:

A Warehouse Freezer Forklift Driver operates specialized machinery in freezer storage warehouse to safely move, store, and organize perishable goods. Oversee loading and unloading materials, both incoming and outgoing of the facility. Prepare orders for production and shipping, sore materials correctly, and help take physical inventory. Drive and operate warehouse machinery to transport heavy items safely. Protect the safety, quality, and temperature of frozen inventory from delivery to distribution.


Essential Job Functions

  • Safety & Compliance while adhering strictly to OSHA standards, food handling rules, and wear employer-provided thermal personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Responsible for safely transporting dry/frozen ingredients or materials into and about the warehouse/freezer area.
  • Managing and recording pre-shipment documentation for product receiving or shipping.
  • Receive inbound shipments based on delivery schedule of frozen goods, verifying product counts and quality against purchase orders and bills of lading, and reporting any stacking requirements. Reporting any discrepancies or damages.
  • Responsible for verifying that all assigned deliveries come with a COA.
  • Perform order selection duties by accurately picking products from freezer racks based on customer orders, ensuring the correct item, lot number, and quantity are selected by using forklifts, electric pallet jacks, or reach forklifts to move inventory.
  • Prepare pallets for shipment using pick up schedule by stretch-wrapping, labeling, and staging them in the appropriate outbound loading bay, ensuring all documentation is correct.
  • Carefully load outbound trucks, ensuring weight is distributed correctly and products are secured to prevent shifting and damage during transportation.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in full physical inventories to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and investigate any variances.
  • Rotating stock using First in First Out (FIFO) rule and report damaged or expired goods to minimize spoilage and ensure product freshness.
  • Manage and consolidate partial pallets to optimize storage space within the freezer and improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Perform routine pre-operation inspections on all material handling equipment, reporting any maintenance needs or malfunctions to the supervisor to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
  • Work effectively as part of team, communicating clearly with supervisors, equipment operators, and other handlers to coordinate workflow and meet daily productivity goals.
  • Inspect products for any signs of temperature abuse, contamination, or packaging defects during all stages of handling, from receiving to shipping.
  • Monitoring equipment or temperature logs and report any discrepancies to management.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the freezer and warehouse, removing empty pallets, clearing debris from floors and aisles docks, and adhering to all sanitation protocols.
  • Manually offload containers of product on to a pallet.
  • Transports material and/or product to and from designated areas in the facility.
  • Stacking and sorting empty and broken pallets; both freezer and dry warehouse pallets.
  • Conduct daily forklift inspections
  • Assist with various warehouse duties as assigned and needed

Food Safety Responsibilities

  • Warehouse storage procedures and inventory control including stock rotation, allergen separation, and label control procedures
  • All employees are required to immediately report and assist in the elimination or control of any food safety issues they observe to their supervisor
  • Monitors and enforces cGMPs within the warehouse department
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Pre-requisite programs

Language Requirement:

  • Ability to understand written and oral direction in English and/or Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently lift 30 - 50lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally withstand a -15 degree freezer environment
  • Must have the ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, climb, fill raw material into machine.
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment. 
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Wear proper footwear

Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma, equivalent or higher
  • Forklift certified on Sit down, Reach and electric pallet jack
  • Prior warehouse handling experience (including forklift operation) is preferred
  • Basic math and reading comprehension for inventory counts
  • Ability to frequently convert weight measurements
  • String attention to safety details
