Position Overview

This Maintenance Technician role is ideal for a motivated, hands-on professional with proven maintenance skills who can step in and support daily facilities operations with minimal supervision. This position ensures the credit union’s facilities remain safe, clean, and fully operational. The ideal candidate brings moderate experience, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify and address facility needs.

This position requires traveling to our various KC metro branches via our company vehicle.

Major Responsibilities

• Support facilities planning and special projects, including branch remodels, equipment installations, and expansion initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, building codes, life safety requirements, environmental standards, and company policies.

• Respond to emergency maintenance situations, after-hours service calls, and urgent facility issues across multiple branch locations as needed.

• Execute office renovations, furniture installations, workspace reconfigurations, and facility improvement projects while maintaining business continuity.

• Maintain the professional appearance, safety, and functionality of all facilities and grounds, ensuring a positive environment for employees and members.

• Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with company standards.

• Conduct comprehensive preventative maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, and building systems to identify deficiencies and implement proactive maintenance solutions.

• Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and regulatory documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other tracking software.

• Independently perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC support, and general facility infrastructure with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Proof of current personal auto insurance; company insurance provided for credit union vehicles. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and decision-making.

• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety practices, and building maintenance standards.

• Experience reading blueprints, technical manuals, equipment specifications, and maintenance documentation. High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school education or equivalent experience strongly preferred.

• Advanced knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, door and hardware systems, and general building maintenance.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple service requests across several branch locations.

• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex facility issues, identify root causes, and implement effective long-term solutions.

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with employees, management, contractors, and vendors.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible commercial facilities maintenance experience with demonstrated proficiency across multiple building trades.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting multiple facilities spanning several geographic locations.

• Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

• Experience maintaining financial institutions, healthcare facilities, commercial office buildings, or other regulated environments.

• Knowledge of access control systems, security hardware, low-voltage systems, and basic building automation systems (BAS).

• Associates degree in Facilities Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Building Systems, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Industry certifications such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, OSHA 10/30, EPA Section 608, Certified Facility Maintenance Technician (CFMT), or equivalent trade certifications.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, mechanical rooms, and other confined or elevated work environments.

• Ability to safely operate a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, ladders, lifts, and maintenance machinery.

• Ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbing, and repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.

• Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier equipment using proper material-handling techniques.
