Overview
Montech Inc. is seeking a highly qualified Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to provide
professional biomedical equipment support and clinical engineering services supporting healthcare
operations. The position ensures the safe, reliable, effective, and economical operation of medical,
dental, diagnostic, therapeutic, laboratory, imaging, and life-support equipment used in patient care.
Place of Performance
On-site at healthcare facilities and medical treatment location at at Albuquerque Area Office-Indian Health Service, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, (8 hours per day). Additional hours may be required for emergencies, repairs and operational needs.
Summary of Responsibilities and Measuring Success
Independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, functional testing,
documentation in CMMS, equipment evaluations, root cause analysis, vendor oversight, technical
consultation, committee participation, recall management, equipment acquisition support, and
support of imaging, telemedicine and physiological monitoring systems.
Daily Tasks
o Independently perform and manage scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, and functional testing on complex diagnostic, therapeutic, imaging, and life-support systems.
o Maintain accurate biomedical equipment inventories, service histories, preventive maintenance records, and parts inventories within the CMMS.
o Inspect and evaluate new biomedical equipment prior to placement into service and determine PM inclusion and frequency.
o Analyze complex equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and determine corrective actions.
o Coordinate and technically oversee vendor maintenance and service.
o Provide technical consultation to clinical, engineering, and IT staff.
o Participate on Environment of Care, Safety, Infection Control, and Equipment Committees.
o Monitor and respond to medical device recalls, hazard alerts, and safety notices.
o Support equipment planning, acquisition, construction, and renovation activities.
o Support integrated systems including imaging, telemedicine, and physiological monitoring networks.
Qualifications
The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist shall possess the following qualifications:
o Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing biomedical equipment support in a healthcare environment.
o Expertise in troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and verification of complex biomedical equipment.
o Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA 99, AAMI, ANSI, FDA, and OSHA requirements.
o Experience overseeing vendor service contracts and third-party maintenance.
o Ability to provide expert consultation and committee participation.
o Experience reviewing construction and renovation plans for equipment infrastructure.
o Proficiency with CMMS systems.
o Valid state driver’s license.
