The opportunity:

Odyssey is seeking a Senior Director, IT to lead the operational execution of our enterprise technology environment — infrastructure, service delivery, and cybersecurity — across a hybrid on-premises and AWS footprint. This role leads our IT and security team and day-to-day operations, while developing the multi-year technology and security roadmap that will guide how we scale securely and reliably.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who thrives on execution, team development, and driving measurable improvement in a fast-moving, biotech spanning early discovery through to a regulated clinical environment.

Your primary objectives will be:

  • Own IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, and service delivery across our hybrid on-prem and AWS environment, ensuring performance, availability, scalability, and high-quality ITSM practices.
  • Drive a proactive and strategic vendor management program, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, SLA compliance, and fostering strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Lead the enterprise cybersecurity program — architecture, controls, and incident response — across prevention, detection, response, and recovery.
  • Ensure IT compliance with industry regulations (SOX, GxP) and data privacy standards, and emerging AI governance and data privacy requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure organizational resilience.
  • Partner with Clinical Operation, Quality and Lab Operations on IT support for clinical trials and scientific systems — including CTMS, EDC, LIMS and ELN platforms — ensuring data integrity, security, and GxP compliance.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT and Cybersecurity team, fostering an environment that encourages continuous learning, professional development, and technical excellence.
  • Drive the adoption and optimization of modern infrastructure and cloud technologies (AWS, hypervisors, networking)to support enterprise platforms, including approved AI tools.

About you:

  • 10+ years in IT leadership spanning infrastructure/operations and cybersecurity, ideally in a regulated life sciences or healthcare environment.
  • Experience operating under GxP, SOX, or comparable compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or hybrid cloud environments.
  • People leadership experience, including managing managers.
  • Security certification (CISSP, CISM, or similar) preferred, not required.
  • Nice to have: exposure to clinical systems (CTMS/EDC) and AI governance frameworks.
