Open Point

Engineering Graduate Program

Location: Melbourne
Type: Fixed-term, 24 months

Our Company:

Open Point brings together stakeholder and community engagement into one seamless platform. Our software equips state and local governments, public infrastructure departments, and private infrastructure providers with the tools to manage complex stakeholder environments, meet consultation and regulatory requirements, and run transparent engagement processes.

The platform enables teams to gather meaningful input at scale, understand community sentiment, and turn engagement data into clear insights.

By connecting input to insights to impact, Open Point helps organisations make more informed decisions, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and deliver better outcomes for the communities they serve.

Our Graduate Program:

Our Graduate Software Engineer Program is a 24-month fixed-term opportunity designed to build well-rounded engineers through hands-on experience across our product suite. Over the course of the program, you'll work across the Open Point Platform, gaining exposure to different codebases, teams, and problem spaces while being supported by mentors and a structured learning plan.

Remuneration and Career Growth:

Our program equips graduates with the tools, support, and confidence to grow from engineering graduates into engineering professionals.

We can offer you:

  • Base salary range between $70,000 - $80,000 + superannuation
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement (Initially 1 day working from home, progressing as you come up to speed)
  • Structured learning plan with a mentor for the full program duration
  • Annual $1,500 professional development allowance
  • Annual $300 health & wellness allowance
  • Have a coffee, or matcha, on us (unlimited coffee tab)
  • Paid day off on your birthday

As a Graduate Software Engineer you will:

  • Write clean, maintainable code as part of an agile development team
  • Contribute to features across our Open Point Platform
  • Help design, build, and integrate AI-powered workflows and features into both products - for example, automating manual processes or surfacing insights from community and stakeholder engagement data
  • Work alongside senior engineers to evaluate and implement AI tools (e.g. LLM APIs, automation frameworks) that improve product functionality or internal efficiency
  • Support testing and refinement of AI features to ensure they're reliable, secure, and appropriate for a government-facing product
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to ship features that matter to real government and community users
  • Build foundational skills in software architecture, testing practices, and secure development (we're SOC2, ISO 27001, and ISO 9001 certified, so quality and security matter here)
  • Take part in structured learning activities, mentoring sessions, and graduate cohort check-ins

About You:

  • Recently completed (or completing) a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Must have graduated within the last 2 years.
  • Hold full-time permanent work rights in Australia
  • Solid understanding of programming fundamentals (language agnostic - we'll teach you our stack)
  • Some exposure to or genuine interest in AI/ML concepts and tools (coursework, personal projects, or internships all count)
  • Curious, collaborative, and keen to learn from experienced engineers
