Reports to: Director of Operations
About the Job
At Pet Krewe, we believe pets deserve to be celebrated in every way. We started with costumes and have since expanded into pet food and treats, bringing quality products at smart prices into homes nationwide.
As Pet Krewe continues to expand across major retailers, eCommerce, Amazon, direct-to-consumer, and additional channels, we are building the operational structure needed to support greater volume and complexity.
Pet Krewe is looking for a hands-on Senior Inventory & Logistics Specialist to own the day-to-day execution and control of inventory across our network.
This role connects inbound supply, warehouse inventory, replenishment, logistics, and customer demand. You will work directly with our warehouse and logistics partners to ensure inventory is accurately received, positioned, transferred, and available where it is needed, while resolving exceptions before they impact customers.
This is a high-ownership individual-contributor role. We are looking for someone who can independently investigate operational issues, validate information across systems and physical operations, make routine decisions within established guidelines, and drive actions through completion.
The role reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with our Operations Coordinator, systems team, production partners, 3PLs, freight providers, and other internal teams.
Position Overview
The Senior Inventory & Logistics Specialist will own a defined part of Pet Krewe’s operating engine: inventory control and logistics execution.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role will work closely with the Operations Coordinator on order coverage and fulfillment, while partnering with our systems, production, warehouse, and logistics teams to resolve exceptions and keep inventory moving.
Pet Krewe uses technology, automation, and data-driven tools to improve operational visibility and decision-making. The person in this role will be expected to use those tools effectively while applying operational judgment to validate information, resolve exceptions, and turn recommendations into action.
On any given day, that may mean resolving an inventory discrepancy with a warehouse, validating whether inbound inventory is truly available, determining and executing a replenishment requirement, coordinating a priority receipt, investigating a FIFO issue, or identifying a logistics cost that can be avoided.
This role is designed for someone with a strong inventory or logistics foundation who is ready for meaningful ownership and wants to develop broader supply-chain responsibility as Pet Krewe grows.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Own day-to-day inventory accuracy and control across NetSuite, 3PL/WMS platforms, Amazon, and other fulfillment locations.
- Validate inventory positions across systems and investigate discrepancies against physical warehouse activity.
- Drive inventory discrepancies through root-cause identification and resolution rather than simply reporting variances.
- Coordinate cycle counts and support physical inventory reconciliation and inventory adjustments.
- Monitor damaged, held, quarantined, or otherwise unavailable inventory.
- Maintain strong FIFO/FEFO, lot, expiration-date, and inventory-control practices.
- Use confirmed inventory availability as the basis for fulfillment and replenishment decisions
Replenishment & Inventory Movement
- Own routine replenishment and inventory-transfer execution across Pet Krewe’s fulfillment network.
- Review demand, inventory, inbound supply, and system-generated recommendations to determine appropriate inventory movements.
- Apply operational judgment and known business constraints before executing replenishment actions.
- Coordinate transfers through shipment, receipt, and final system reconciliation.
- Identify situations where inventory cannot support all requirements and escalate material customer or commercial tradeoffs to the Director of Operations.
- Partner with the Operations Coordinator to ensure inventory positioning supports upcoming customer orders and programs.
Inbound Logistics & Receiving
- Own operational follow-through of inbound shipments from transit through warehouse receipt, putaway, and usable inventory.
- Work with freight and warehouse partners to resolve delays, appointments, partial receipts, shortages, damages, holds, and receiving exceptions.
- Coordinate receiving priorities when inbound inventory is required to support customer demand.
- Validate that expected or arrived inventory is physically usable before relying on it for fulfillment.
- Escalate material inbound risks early with the expected operational impact and recommended next action.
Warehouse & 3PL Execution
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for inventory and logistics matters with Pet Krewe’s 3PL partners.
- Resolve routine receiving, inventory, storage, replenishment, transfer, palletization, and warehouse-execution issues.
- Drive open warehouse actions to closure and verify that corrective actions were completed.
- Monitor adherence to agreed inventory-handling controls, including FIFO/FEFO and lot/expiration requirements.
- Identify recurring operational problems, investigate root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Escalate significant service, commercial, or strategic issues to the Director of Operations.
Inventory Risk & Order Coverage
- Partner with the Operations Coordinator to ensure customer orders are supported by the correct inventory and fulfillment location.
- Use available system analysis and planning tools to identify near-term inventory and fulfillment risks.
- Validate system-generated risk signals against warehouse, inbound, and operational conditions.
- Determine the appropriate operational response, including replenishment, receiving prioritization, transfer activity, or escalation.
- Support customer-extension or allocation decisions with accurate operational evidence.
- Escalate material customer tradeoffs to the Director of Operations.
Cost & Operational Improvement
- Proactively identify avoidable freight, drayage, warehousing, transfer, storage, handling, and expedited costs.
- Investigate unusual logistics charges or inefficient operating patterns.
- Quantify improvement opportunities and recommend practical actions.
- Support logistics-cost and vendor analysis led by the Director of Operations.
- Identify operational changes that improve inventory availability, service, working capital, or cost.
- Look for recurring manual tasks or failure points that can be simplified, standardized, or automated.
Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
- Work comfortably across ERP, WMS, retailer, logistics, reporting, and operational planning systems.
- Use automation, analytics, and decision-support tools as part of normal operational workflows.
- Validate automated or system-generated outputs before material operational decisions are made.
- Identify data-quality, workflow, or integration issues that affect inventory and logistics execution.
- Partner with the Director of Operations and systems team to improve reporting, automation, and operational workflows.
- Help define business rules and operational controls required for reliable automation.
- Maintain clear SOPs for inventory, inbound logistics, replenishment, transfers, and exception management.
- Continuously reduce unnecessary manual work while maintaining appropriate operational controls.
Growth & Special Projects
- Own logistics execution for new products, retailer programs, promotions, endcaps, and other special projects within established business plans.
- Coordinate inventory positioning, receiving, transfers, and warehouse requirements.
- Support operational readiness for new customers and channels.
- Support warehouse transitions and broader supply-chain initiatives led by the Director of Operations.
- Help ensure growth does not create unnecessary manual processes or operational complexity.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3+ years of experience in inventory management, logistics, supply chain, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience independently owning inventory, logistics, replenishment, receiving, or warehouse processes.
- Strong understanding of inventory availability, commitments, receiving, transfers, and replenishment.
- Experience working directly with warehouses, 3PLs, carriers, or logistics providers.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, inventory-management, or similar operational systems.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with detailed operational data.
- Ability to reconcile conflicting information across systems and physical operations.
- Strong root-cause problem-solving and operational judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple SKUs, shipments, locations, customers, and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive issues through resolution.
- Comfortable learning and using new technology, analytics, and automation tools.
Preferred Experience
- NetSuite experience.
- Consumer goods, food, pet, retail, or eCommerce experience.
- Multi-location inventory or replenishment experience.
- International ocean freight, container, drayage, or import experience.
- Lot-controlled or expiration-dated inventory experience.
- Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree, Costco, Amazon, or similar retailer experience.
- Familiarity with EDI environments.
- Experience improving or automating operational workflows.
- Experience identifying logistics or inventory cost savings.
- Startup or high-growth company experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate:
- Takes ownership without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Is naturally skeptical when system data and physical operations do not agree.
- Uses technology to work faster but does not blindly trust automated outputs.
- Understands that data is an input to an operational decision, not the decision itself.
- Can connect inventory, inbound supply, warehouse operations, customer demand, and cost.
- Is comfortable making routine decisions within clear guardrails.
- Knows when an issue requires escalation.
- Works effectively with warehouses, carriers, systems teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Is analytical, practical, persistent, and cost-conscious.
- Brings solutions and recommendations, not just exceptions.
- Wants to grow into broader inventory and logistics leadership over time.
What Success Looks Like
- Inventory positions are accurate, explainable, and trusted.
- System-generated insights translate into timely operational actions.
- Receiving and putaway exceptions do not disappear into trackers; they are resolved.
- Replenishment occurs before customer orders become exposed.
- Transfers are executed and reconciled accurately.
- Inventory risks are identified early and acted on.
- FIFO/FEFO, lot, and expiration controls are consistently followed.
- Routine warehouse and logistics issues are resolved without unnecessary Director intervention.
- Automated workflows become more reliable because operational controls and exceptions are well defined.
- Growth can be absorbed without proportional growth in manual administrative work.
