Analytical Technician I-IV

R3 Lithium operates North America's first commercial-scale lithium carbonate recovery facility, located in Covington, Georgia. Using a lithium-first extraction process, the company recovers, refines, and returns lithium carbonate from recycled black mass into the battery supply chain for energy storage systems, defense applications, and electric vehicles. The Analytical Technician will be responsible for running the analytical tests needed to support the final quality checks of raw materials, in-process, finished goods and R&D lab samples.  In addition to this responsibility the position requires routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment, reporting and maintaining test data and sampling product as needed. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical material characterization testing notably ICP-OES, XRF, IC and various titrations.
  • May collect or log in samples for testing.
  • Solve technical problems related to routine testing.
  • Follow test plans and protocols.
  • Analyze tests results and report results/conclusions.
  • Performs troubleshooting on lab equipment as required.
  • Report test progress to management
  • Observe all company, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with waste and chemical management in the lab.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum Education: Associate degree in chemistry or related field or comparable prior work experience.
  • 1-2 years of work experience in R&D or battery testing environment or chemical/materials lab related experience in University or Industry preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours.
  • Computer Proficiency (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Good lab practices such as safety, recording and documentation.
  • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiar with ERP and LIMS systems.
  • Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and test method validation a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to heat, cold, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capable of wearing task specific personal protective equipment which may include dust mask, air purifying respirator (i.e., half and/or full faced), safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
  • Capable of meeting OSHA standards for manual lifting guidelines: < 50lbs
  • While performing the duties of this job it is required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch when necessary for job activity.
