Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000 per year, depending on experience

 

About the role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will drive innovation and design within our groundbreaking ION and DUO product lines, influencing how students and teams worldwide interact with REV products for years to come. 

Leveraging your FIRST® Robotics experience and engineering expertise, you will help create the tools that empower students to tackle real-world challenges, both in classrooms and on the competition field. This is your chance to contribute to the roadmap of cutting-edge robotics solutions, collaborate with passionate professionals, and leave a lasting impact on the next generation of engineers and innovators.


 

What you'll do

Operation:

Design, research, innovate, build, test, and improve mechanical and electrical devices, equipment, and systems. Use your FIRST Robotics experience, innovative creativity and Engineering knowledge to design powerful products for educational classrooms and competitive robot competitions. Also design new products within the scope of associated designs, and often work alongside a team, overseeing the manufacturing process.

Primary Tasks:

  • Assist in the product roadmap for current and future products
  • Take ownership of project management, deadlines, and troubleshooting
  • Create 3D CAD models of new products
  • Determine the best manufacturing methods to use for various components
  • Perform engineering calculations for product development
  • Perform dimensional tolerance analysis (stack-up) to determine tolerance ranges
  • Apply GD&T principles to drawings for components and assemblies
  • Design fixtures for product testing/calibration/QA
  • Maintain a public-facing CAD model library
  • Create customer-facing product drawings
  • Supply marketing and customer success with information and materials
  • Create rough draft build guide instructions
  • Other tasks as needed to ensure product line completion

Alternate Tasks:

  • Represent REV at various events
  • Program and wire FTC & FRC robots to enable testing
  • Operate CNC equipment
  • Operate powered manufacturing equipment (mill, lathe, saw, etc.)
  • Use hand tools for manufacturing and assembly
  • Perform testing on new and existing products

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of mechanical engineering, product design, and project management
  • OnShape, Fusion, SolidWorks
  • Injection molded product design
  • Engineering focusing on Mechanical design but good Electrical and Software knowledge.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Machine shop
  • Manufacturing in Asia
  • Customer service
  • FIRST® robotics teams experience as student and/or mentor

Soft Skills:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • “Can do” attitude
  • Effectively collaborate with different disciplines
  • Fluent in CAD design
  • Work independently
  • Minimal supervision
  • Work with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate effective time management
  • Successfully communicate onsite and remotely (email, phone, social media)
