CAD Drafter

About REV Robotics

Do you like Robots? So do we. Do you want to make a positive impact on the world? We do that too!

REV Robotics is one of the fastest-growing companies in educational robotics. Our people and their passion for STEM education (FIRST Robotics, in particular) set us apart. We have a relaxed and friendly office located in Carrollton, TX, just outside of Dallas, and are looking for people who are willing to stretch their abilities to make STEM education materials more accessible and impactful to everyone.

REV designs, builds, and manufactures innovative products for educational robotics. From the classroom to competitive arenas like the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), our components empower students around the world to discover engineering. We are looking for a highly organized, methodical CAD Drafter who genuinely enjoys the CAD process and wants to maintain the digital backbone of our physical product line.

About the role

The CAD Drafter will translate mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts into precise technical drawings and maintain our large digital component library. Your primary functions will include creating initial drawings, implementing design revisions, and finalizing models for external and internal use. A critical focus of this role is file management and organization, ensuring our repository of over 800 distinct parts remains perfectly synchronized across our CAD eco-systems and Odoo ERP software.

What you'll do

  • Drafting & Design Update: Utilize CAD software to create initial drawings, integrate engineering change orders (ECOs), and finalize documentation for a wide variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
  • Component Library Management: Oversee the organization, file maintenance, and absolute accuracy of a library containing over 800 parts, ensuring files are optimized for both internal engineering teams and customer-facing downloads.
  • ERP Data Maintenance: Manage, update, and audit the component library within our Odoo ERP system to keep engineering data aligned with inventory and manufacturing records.
  • Process Organization: Methodically catalog assemblies, maintain strict revision controls, and enforce file-naming conventions to keep data clean and accessible.

Qualifications

  • CAD Expertise: Proven professional experience in computer-aided design with an above-average aptitude in modern parametric modeling packages.
  • File Management Mastery: Demonstrated experience tracking, organizing, and maintaining large CAD databases or complex parts libraries.
  • Meticulous Mindset: Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented, and methodical thinker who thrives on structure and genuinely loves the technical drafting process.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read drawings, understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and comprehend inter-part tolerance stackups.
  • Communication: Ability to ask clarifying questions and explain technical drawings to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Time Management: Capable of managing multiple project deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Pluses (Highly Desired)

  • FIRST Robotics Connection: Previous experience as a student or mentor in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is strongly preferred.
  • Professional Certifications: Official certifications in SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP), OnShape, or Autodesk Fusion 360 are a major plus.
  • Education: A trade school certificate in CAD, or an Associate degree in CAD, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • ERP Experience: Direct, hands-on experience using the Odoo ERP platform for library or inventory database management.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching and others.
  • Small, friendly office.
  • Fully stocked break room with snacks and beverages.
  • Casual office attire.
  • Nine paid holidays plus a floating holiday of 8 hours.
  • PTO that starts accruing from day one of employment.
