HOURS WORKED: 10 hours per week (including Sundays, 9am - 2:30pm)

SALARY RANGE: $22 - 28 per hour


JOB SUMMARY:


Create a gospel-centered, loving environment for the middle and high school students of Redeemer Downtown, with a particular focus on discipling and counseling the female students. This includes teaching and engaging the middle school girls in their whole group lesson, as well as participating in post service lunches, high school discussions, combined student activities, retreats and special events.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Youth Group Assistant is responsible for preparing and teaching the Sunday school lesson to the middle school girls, as well as, participating in the high school discussions and discipleship activities.
  • Prior to Sunday, review the lesson and make necessary preparations for teaching.
  • Guide volunteers during the transitions and in activities
  • Attend weekly Staff & Volunteer meetings each Sunday at 9am in the band room.
  • Spearhead classroom set-up for middle school girls classroom on the 7th floor.
  • Teach the lessons in a gospel-centered and Biblical way.
  • Spearhead classroom breakdown & finish clean up and organization of supplies.
  • Help plan, organize and run youth group games and other activities.
  • Attend monthly high school Friday night dinners.
  • Meet up and mentor students outside of regular activities.
  • Attend weekend youth retreats (paid for additional hours these weeks).


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available on Sundays from 9AM to 2:30PM.
  • Arrive on time each Sunday.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions each year to review policies & procedures and build community so the youth at Redeemer Downtown are served safely and effectively.
  • Give at least 2 weeks notice prior to being absent. If ill, please notify your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • No more than 6 absences per year (including sick days).
  • Must pass RDT’s background check and reference check.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Heart for God, families and youth.
  • Need to embrace RDT’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City.
  • Godly character and lifestyle.
  • Experience in teaching or youth ministry.
  • Must be a team player and have character qualities such as integrity, wisdom and good judgment.
  • Must be punctual and responsible.
  • Warm and engaging personality that is welcoming to parents and children, especially those children who have difficulty engaging in social settings.
  • Musical ability in leading worship is a plus.
