Interpreter Operations & Scheduling Intern

Job Title: Interpreter Operations & Scheduling Intern
Location: Remote/ Hybrid

Hours: Flexible (Part or Full Time available)

Duration: Flexible (10-12 weeks approx)
Reports to: Chief Advocacy Officer

Role Overview 

The Interpreter Operations & Scheduling Intern will support the Interpreter Services team in coordinating interpreter scheduling, service operations, and workforce logistics for SignWow’s communication access services.

This role provides hands-on experience in operations management, interpreter scheduling systems, accessibility service delivery, and real-time communication support within the accessibility technology industry.

The intern will work closely with interpreter operations leaders to help ensure efficient service coordination for VRI, VRS, captioning, and scheduled interpreting services.


Key Responsibilities 


Interpreter Scheduling & Coordination

  • Assist with scheduling interpreters for:
    • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
    • Video Relay Service (VRS)
    • Captioning services
    • Scheduled interpreting assignments
  • Help confirm interpreter availability and service coverage
  • Support coordination for urgent or last-minute interpreting requests


Operations Support

  • Assist with daily interpreter operations and scheduling workflows
  • Monitor service requests and interpreter coverage to ensure timely assignments
  • Support interpreter shift coordination and scheduling updates
  • Help maintain operational documentation and scheduling records


Interpreter Workforce Support

  • Assist with interpreter communication related to assignments and scheduling updates
  • Help track interpreter availability and scheduling preferences
  • Support interpreter onboarding logistics and scheduling system updates


Systems & Process Improvement

  • Assist with updating scheduling platforms and operations dashboards
  • Support tracking of service metrics such as:
    • Interpreter utilization
    • Request fulfillment time
    • Service coverage
  • Help identify opportunities to improve scheduling efficiency and service workflows

Skills & Experience Required - Essential

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in:
    • Business Administration
    • Operations Management
    • Communications
    • Public Administration
    • Management
    • Or related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and coordination skils


Skills & Experience Required - Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community
  • Interest in accessibility technology or communication access services
  • Basic familiarity of American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience with scheduling tools, operations coordination or administrative systems
