Job Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Salary: $130 - $225k
Location: Remote, USA
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Closing Date: N/A

Role Overview

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will lead production reliability for a 24/7 video communications platform. This role will be the operational backbone: building observability, automating infrastructure, running release pipelines, hardening the platform for high availability, and anchoring on-call escalation. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys carrying reliability end to end rather than directing a team from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build observability across the stack: metrics, logs, traces, synthetic checks, alerting, and routing to on-duty staff.
  • Develop infrastructure as code for repeatable, auditable environments.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and safe release patterns, including blue/green, canary, and reliable rollback.
  • Design high-availability and DR/BCP practices, including failover testing and recovery objectives.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, runbooks, and post-incident improvements.
  • Participate in on-call escalation as part of a fair rotation with the founding team.
  • Keep self-hosted services, including real-time media, websocket, and event processing, healthy and performant.

Skills & Experience Required - Essential

  • 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, platform, or production infrastructure roles.
  • Strong Linux, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud experience.
  • Hands-on observability experience with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Solid CI/CD and safe deployment practice.
  • Real incident-response experience on always-on systems, with comfort carrying a phone on-call.
  • Uses AI tools to work faster while retaining responsibility for design, architecture, and judgment calls.
  • Self-directed and comfortable carrying a problem end to end without close supervision.

Skills & Experience Required - Desirable

  • Experience supporting real-time media, such as WebRTC, video, or SIP, in production.
  • Running self-hosted infrastructure on cloud, not just managed PaaS.
  • Exposure to regulated or high-availability environments, such as telecom, healthcare, finance, or public sector.
  • American Sign Language (ASL) knowledge is a strong plus.

Our Stack

  • WebRTC-based real-time media, self-hosted.
  • TypeScript / Node ecosystem.
  • PostgreSQL, Redis, websocket, and event-driven services.
  • SIP and telephony through specialist carrier partners.
  • Cloud infrastructure, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD.
  • Async-first workflow with GitHub, Linear, Slack, and Notion.

What We Offer

  • Build the reliability foundation of a mission-driven accessibility service from the ground up.
  • Real responsibility and direct work with the founders, without bureaucracy layers.
  • Flexible, results-focused remote work.
  • Join a Deaf-led company making everyday communication more accessible.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $225,000. The final base salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience, technical depth, specialized expertise, qualifications, and expected scope of responsibility, as well as internal compensation considerations.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The role may require flexibility to support urgent service requests and changing scheduling needs.

This position is primarily remote and open to candidates residing in U.S. states in which SignWow is authorized to employ personnel. Occasional travel or in-person meetings may be required.  This role is also eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, paid holidays, a 401(k), and other company-sponsored benefits.

Employment in this position may be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and any additional screening required for work involving regulated telecommunications services or public-sector clients, including work performed in connection with SignWow Global operations.
