About This Role

SpartanX is seeking an experienced Director of Safety & Training to lead the company's safety program, training initiatives, and workforce development across all operational departments.

This executive leadership role is responsible for creating a culture where safety is not just a priority—it's the standard. The Director of Safety & Training will develop, implement, and oversee company-wide safety policies, compliance programs, onboarding, technical training, leadership development, and continuing education for field and office employees.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong background in construction or solar safety who is passionate about developing people, reducing risk, and building scalable training programs that support operational excellence.


What You'll Do

Safety Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and oversee SpartanX's company-wide safety program
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Conduct safety audits, field observations, and jobsite inspections
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while implementing corrective actions
  • Develop and monitor safety KPIs, incident reporting, and compliance metrics
  • Maintain all required safety documentation and regulatory records
  • Partner with leadership to promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization

Training & Development

  • Develop and maintain onboarding programs for new employees
  • Create role-specific training programs for field and office personnel
  • Oversee technical training for installers, electricians, service technicians, inspectors, and operations teams
  • Develop leadership training programs for supervisors and managers
  • Coordinate ongoing education, certifications, and compliance training
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with Operations, Construction, Service, Electrical, HR, and Executive Leadership
  • Standardize operational procedures and best practices across departments
  • Support new market expansion by implementing consistent training and safety standards
  • Maintain training records and employee certification tracking
  • Assist leadership with workforce planning and employee development initiatives

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop safety and training personnel
  • Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and accountability standards
  • Present safety performance and training updates to executive leadership
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and accountability

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in construction, electrical, or solar operations required
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Experience developing and delivering employee training programs
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Experience conducting safety audits and incident investigations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, managers, and executive leadership
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solar industry experience strongly preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification required (OSHA 500 or OSHA Outreach Trainer certification preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor certification preferred
  • Experience developing company-wide safety manuals and SOPs
  • Experience managing multi-state field operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred
