Position Summary

Excellent emergency, critical, and specialty care requires exceptional technical skills and a strong team approach. We are seeking a Hospital Assistant to join our team in an entry-level role that is essential to daily hospital operations.


Hospital Assistants work closely with our medical and client care teams to support exceptional patient care for dogs, cats, and small exotic pets. This role plays a key part in ensuring the hospital is clean, safe, and comfortable for both clients and patients.


This is an entry-level position with opportunities for further training and advancement within the hospital. Schedule is Overnights, Wednesday - Saturday.


What You’ll Do:

Hospital Cleanliness and Organization

  • Clean, fold, and stock laundry throughout the clinic
  • Clean and restock exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Sweep (or vacuum) and mop all areas of the hospital
  • Restock bathrooms
  • Clean kennels and runs
  • Clean and disinfect the isolation area
  • Wash pet-related dishes and other items
  • Stock and spot-clean throughout the day
  • Empty internal trash cans and take out trash, recycling, and composting
  • Walk dogs and patrol hospital grounds for dog waste and litter

Surgical and Clinical Support

  • Clean surgery suites between procedures
  • Clean surgical instruments and prepare and sterilize surgical packs as needed
  • Assist with unpacking deliveries
  • After training, assist with animal restraint, including holding for IV catheter placement, radiographs, and blood draws


Patient and Safety Responsibilities

  • Prepare deceased patients for cremation services
  • Report safety concerns and adverse events promptly and accurately
  • Participate in all staff and Hospital Assistant mandatory meetings
  • Support and model our PEAK Principles
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, crawl, crouch, use a step ladder, and reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Previous animal handling experience is not required


Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits:

  • Hourly compensation is based on experience and skill level ($21.30/hr).
  • Shift differentials apply for overnight and weekend shifts in addition to hourly rates.
