About the Role

Are you ready to lead Touchstone Climbing’s newest and most exciting gym in the Bay Area? Aisle 19, our newest bouldering gym is located in San Francisco. It's more than just a climbing and fitness facility—it’s a hub for community, inclusivity, and personal growth. We’re looking for a Gym Manager to take the reins and build this space into a thriving, welcoming destination for climbers and fitness enthusiasts alike.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the identity of a brand-new gym, drive its success, and make a meaningful impact on the local community.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead a strong, passionate team by hiring, training, and mentoring staff, including supervisors, front desk, and maintenance teams.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that supports growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Serve as a leader and role model for professionalism, excellent service, and community engagement.

Operations & Facility Management

• Ensure Aisle 19 operates seamlessly, maintaining Touchstone’s high standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
• Manage budgets, analyze performance metrics, and implement strategies to optimize operations.
• Oversee climbing wall inspections, equipment maintenance, and other facility improvements.

Community Building

• Create a welcoming and vibrant environment by engaging with members and responding to their feedback.
• Organize events, programs, and initiatives that celebrate and support the local climbing and fitness community.
• Collaborate with Touchstone’s marketing team to promote Aisle 19’s unique offerings and foster its identity.

What You Bring

• Required: Leadership experience in customer-focused industries (e.g., gyms, recreation centers, hospitality).
• Intermediate technology skills, using programs such as Google Workspace, Slack, HRIS/Timekeeping programs
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a results-oriented mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution.
• Preferred: Familiarity with climbing or fitness industries, including route setting or facility management.
• A passion for climbing, and creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and foster community.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Regular travel between Touchstone locations.
• Combination of on-site, virtual, and administrative work.
• Occasional evenings and weekends for trainings, events, or instructor meetings.
  
  

Compensation

Compensation range for this role is $80,000, annually. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure. Schedules are set in advance by management, though staff may be asked to fill in for events or cover shifts as needed. Staff must take required breaks per state and company policy.
