UNIFI Healthcare

Social Media & Content Manager

We're looking for an experienced Social Media & Content Manager to build Unifi Healthcare's social media presence from the ground up, owning both the strategy and the hands-on content creation behind it. This person will shoot, edit, write, and publish the content that brings our mission to life, translate that mission into stories that resonate with patients, donors, and community partners, and help us grow a loyal, engaged audience.

Because we run lean, this is not a role where content creation gets handed off to someone else, you'll be the one filming, editing, writing, and designing it, in addition to setting the strategy. The right candidate is comfortable wearing multiple hats, moving between strategy, hands-on content production, community management, and general marketing support, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. Prior experience working in the nonprofit sector is required, as this role depends on understanding mission-driven storytelling, donor and community sensitivities, and the resource constraints common to nonprofit and healthcare organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok) aligned with organizational goals
  • Personally shoot, film, edit, and produce original photo and video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, behind-the-scenes footage) featuring patient stories, caregiver spotlights, and company updates, along with writing the copy and captions to go with it
  • Translate clinical and insurance language into clear, everyday terms that resonate with patients and family caregivers, in line with Unifi's plain-language, no-healthcare-speak approach to communication
  • Design graphics and visual assets for social and marketing use (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Capture content during in-home care visits, team events, and community outreach, always following HIPAA guidelines and securing proper consent
  • Manage day-to-day community engagement, responding to comments and messages and monitoring brand sentiment
  • Track performance metrics and analytics, reporting on KPIs and adjusting strategy based on results
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program, development/fundraising, and clinical staff to source authentic stories and content
  • Support broader marketing and communications efforts as needed, including email campaigns, website updates, event promotion, and PR support
  • Manage paid social campaigns and advertising budgets
  • Stay current on platform trends, algorithm changes, and best practices in healthcare and nonprofit communications
  • Ensure all content complies with healthcare privacy regulations (HIPAA) and nonprofit communication standards

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-4 years of professional social media management experience
  • Prior experience working at a nonprofit organization is required
  • Proven track record of growing and engaging social media audiences
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
  • Hands-on proficiency shooting and editing short-form video (smartphone plus tools like CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar) and creating graphics (Canva or equivalent) — this is a hands-on content creation role, not purely an oversight position
  • Experience with social media management/scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later)
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with limited resources, evolving priorities, and a willingness to take on responsibilities outside a traditional social media role
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

Preferred

  • Experience with paid social advertising and analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry communications and HIPAA considerations
  • Experience supporting fundraising or donor communications
