VP, Sales

About the role

Oversees multiple markets and directs the General Manager or recognized authority with all sales and operational activities of an assigned entity.  This individual is responsible for the divisions overall revenue performance, operating profits and culture for the region.  This person hires, assists in training and supervises the sales staff, reviews programming for the best sales opportunities, develops, studies and understands the various markets and approves all sales promotion campaigns.  This position is responsible for training and development of all managers, sales and operations employees.  It is essential that this position embraces our Cross Media sales approach and ensures that everyone within the region is working to bundle linear and digital products in an effort to provide solutions to business customers.


Essential Functions of Position

  • Performance to goal for all lines of revenue.
  • Embraces scorecard KPI’s and manages to enhance and improve performance.
  • Pipeline and activity for the region market and AE’s.
  • Evaluates C.N.A & proposal generation weekly from all teams.
  • Number of active accounts at a regional and market level.
  • Regional and market operating profit expectations.
  • Compliance to our E3 Map initiatives including rate and A.L.M. efforts.
  • Embrace Viamedia University and ensure employees are investing in consistent self-improvement.
  • Consistent evaluation of sales managers training skills and product knowledge.
  • Regional coaching and staff development needs.
  • Manages to AE and Manager published minimum expectations.
  • Supervises sales, client services, production, accounting operations and related personnel.  Monitors progress to ensure quality work.
  • Reviews and approves all advertising sales reports.
  • Directly or through subordinates oversees advertising availability inventory.
  • Acts as the administrator of business control issues (revenue and expenses).
  • Administers departmental salaries and sales related commissions.
  • Assures maximum utilization of all operating resources.
  • Researches new business opportunities.  Presents opportunities to EVP or CRO.
  • Cooperates with all Viamedia systems and other respective partners in the areas of marketing, technical and operational needs to ensure the success of both organizations.
  • Interfaces with cable system operations on joint projects.
  • Ensures all company EEO policies and procedures are followed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales or Marketing or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of media sales or cable operations experience.  
  • Five (5) years of media sales management experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to motivate others and to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to travel as required.
  • Must have keen awareness of competitive conditions.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must have a proven sales track record of over goal delivery.
