Sr. Scientist, Translational Immunology Assay Lead

POSITION SUMMARY


We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Scientist with deep expertise in immunology, vaccinology, and infectious disease to join our Discovery team and play a key role in advancing our vaccine programs. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Translational Immunology, this individual will lead the development, execution and interpretation of immune assays, to assess clinical immune responses.


This role requires strong scientific judgment and hands-on experience designing and optimizing immune assays, along with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights that inform program decisions. The individual will also help establish assay strategy, quality standards, and oversight processes.


Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, a practical and solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively across functions to drive high-quality scientific outcomes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & CONTRIBUTIONS


  • Contribute directly to translational research projects and clinical study evaluations that impact development programs
  • Lead assay teams and working groups to deliver high quality, complex immune analyses *Primary focus will be on development, execution, quality control and analysis of intracellular cytokine staining and flow cytometry analysis of human PBMCs, as well as viral neutralization and antibody binding assays.
  • Lead and mentor scientists and research staff to strengthen team capability, execution, consistency and scientific rigor
  • Operate with a high degree of independence and autonomy to drive progress on critical workstreams
  • Contribute to defining innovative vaccine development and evaluation strategies that shape how programs are designed, assessed, and prioritized
  • Identify and implement process improvements and new methodologies that increase efficiency, reproducibility, and data quality
  • Analyze complex scientific problems and refine approaches to improve interpretation of immune responses and overall study outcomes
  • Develop and advance assay strategies, including novel methodologies and quality control frameworks, to ensure reliable and decision-ready data
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align scientific outputs with program needs and ensure findings are translated into actionable insights
  • Lead authorship and review of regulatory documents, technical reports, manuscripts, and support patent filings to enable program advancement and external communication
  • Present scientific findings internally and externally to drive alignment, inform stakeholders, and enhance organizational visibility
  • Build and manage external collaborations, including academic and industry partnerships, to expand capabilities and accelerate research outcomes
  • Oversee laboratory operations, including forecasting needs and managing equipment and resources, to ensure uninterrupted execution of critical studies


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Must have demonstrated experience in clinical immune assay development, optimization, and quality control
  • Deep expertise in immunology, vaccinology, virology or infectious disease
  • Hands-on experience generating and interpreting clinical or translational immunology data (e.g., ELISA, ELISpot, flow cytometry, neutralization assays
  • Preferred familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., GLP/GCP) and supporting data for regulatory submissions

COMPENSATION


  • The salary range for this position is $128,000 to $170,000 annualized. Compensation will depend on skills, experience, and similarity to current employees in similar roles. Salary ranges may vary based on location.
