Salary: $135,000 annually
WPM Real Estate Management is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead our accounting team and oversee the company's financial data management and reporting. This leadership role is responsible for directing accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, reconciling multiple financial statements across lines of business, and developing and supporting accounting staff.
· Lead acquisition of new accounts, processes as required, ensuring completion of due diligence processes.
· Act as the department liaison for all client acquisition and development projects.
· Prepares, reviews, and reconciles Cash Flow analyses.
· Responsible for upkeep and accuracy of the General Ledger for portfolio of rental properties.
· Prepare the monthly analytical review of the financial statements.
· Review work of Assistant Controllers and Staff Accountants prior to finalization of financial statements to owners.
· Assist the CFO with special projects.
· Primary point of contact for year-end requests from auditors.
· Research and respond to income tax preparer inquiries.
· Oversee the Treasury Functions as required, including review of daily cash needs, approving check registers and reconciling check releases.
· Performs other duties as assigned, within reason and relevance to the job
· Must possess strong mathematical, financial, and analytical abilities.
· Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite and accounting software.
· Highly proficient with Property Management Accounting software or familiarity with similar application.
· Ability to work independently by prioritizing tasks.
· Effective communicator with all employees at all levels of the organization and with owners.
· Solid attention to detail
· In depth knowledge of Real Estate development and construction accounting.
· Proven ability leading, coaching and mentoring employees.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with 5+ years’ experience, or;
· CPA or master’s degree in accounting
· Experience with multi-family housing software a plus
· 5+ years accounting experience in multi-family real estate industry
· Public Accounting experience, 4 years preferred.
· Experience supervising a team, including acting as a role model for others, selecting and training new staff, providing mentoring and coaching to junior staff to develop professionally
· Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort.
· Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting or training rooms, conference halls or commercial vehicles e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
