Lyntris

Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

This role is contingent upon contract funding.

Lyntris is a defense technology company that connects sensing to action across the connected battlespace. Lyntris brings together the talents of Accelint and Vitesse teams under one mission, with each contributing deep expertise within their domain. Combining differentiated hardware, software and mission expertise, Lyntris helps customers sense threats, make sense of complex conditions and act with greater speed, precision and confidence in contested environments.

Lyntris supports U.S. and allied defense organizations across every branch — including Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Force and allied partners — spanning strategic, operational and tactical missions and every domain: Space, Air, Land, Sea and Cyber. With more than 200 active defense programs, Lyntris works at every level of the mission, from national command authority to the tactical edge.

Solutions are designed by operators who understand the mission, engineered for the conditions that degrade or defeat standard systems, and built on an open, modular architecture that integrates into existing programs without requiring them to start over. Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle — with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house — and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding.

We are seeking an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance system models that support the design, analysis, and implementation of complex systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) and SysML to create robust system architectures, behavioral models, and engineering artifacts. This role will support the development of interoperable, traceable system models that enable collaboration across engineering disciplines and ensure alignment between system requirements, design, and implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage SysML models using Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw/NoMagic) to support system architecture, design, and analysis activities.
  • Create and maintain engineering artifacts including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), requirements tables, dependency matrices, allocation matrices, sequence diagrams, state machines, and other model-based systems engineering deliverables.
  • Support model exchange and interoperability through XMI export/import while identifying and mitigating limitations associated with SysML model interchange.
  • Develop and maintain traceability between system requirements, architecture, behavioral models, and implementation artifacts.
  • Apply knowledge of the SysML metamodel to ensure model consistency, quality, and adherence to MBSE best practices.
  • Work with FACE Universal Data Definition Language (UDDL) and support SysML-to-implementation traceability across system components.
  • Understand and manage Cameo model structures, including diagram layouts, query-driven tables, embedded model content, and associated model artifacts.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, architects, and program stakeholders to ensure system models accurately represent system behavior and design intent.
  • Support model reviews, configuration management, and continuous improvement of MBSE processes and modeling standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing SysML models using Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw/NoMagic).
  • Deep understanding of the SysML metamodel, XMI export/import processes, and the limitations associated with model interchange between modeling environments.
  • Experience authoring and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs), requirements tables, dependency and allocation matrices, sequence diagrams, state machines, and other MBSE artifacts.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining traceability between system models and implementation artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of how Cameo stores and manages model content, including diagram layouts, query-driven tables, and embedded binary model structures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience working with the FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) Universal Data Definition Language (UDDL).
  • Experience establishing and maintaining SysML-to-implementation traceability across software and hardware development efforts.
  • Background supporting defense, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems engineering programs.
  • Experience with model governance, configuration management, and MBSE best practices.
  • Familiarity with DoD systems engineering processes, digital engineering initiatives, and model-based architecture frameworks.
  • Experience integrating MBSE tools with requirements management, software development, and configuration management environments.
  • Active-duty military experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Clearance Requirements

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
