Cybersecurity Analyst / Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst / Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support cybersecurity, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities across multiple Department of the Navy (DON) systems and programs. This role will work closely with program managers, engineers, developers, Information System Security Managers (ISSMs), and government stakeholders to ensure systems achieve and maintain cybersecurity compliance throughout the system lifecycle.


The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of RMF processes, cybersecurity compliance requirements, vulnerability management, and system authorization activities. This position requires the ability to coordinate across technical and programmatic teams, manage cybersecurity schedules, assess risk, and support accreditation efforts for both developmental and fielded systems.


Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Manage RMF and A&A activities, including system categorization, security control assessments, authorization package development, continuous monitoring, and accreditation support.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, remediation planning, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to NIST, DoD, and DON security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, policies, procedures, authorization artifacts, and compliance records within eMASS, VRAM, DADMS, and DITPR-DON.
  • Collaborate with engineers, ISSMs, program managers, ISEAs, and government stakeholders to integrate cybersecurity requirements into system design, development, testing, fielding, and sustainment activities.
  • Support configuration management, change control, software baseline management, vulnerability scanning, and modernization initiatives to maintain authorization readiness and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
  • Prepare status reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for leadership while driving process improvements and automation initiatives that enhance RMF execution and cybersecurity program efficiency.


Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of cybersecurity, RMF, Information Assurance, or A&A experience supporting DoD or government programs.
  • Experience supporting RMF and A&A activities using eMASS and related cybersecurity compliance tools.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST 800-series publications, DoD RMF guidance, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Current DoD 8570/8140 certification (Security+, CISSP, CAP, CASP+, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting Department of the Navy, NAVWAR, SPAWAR, or other DoD cybersecurity programs.
  • Familiarity with VRAM, DADMS, DITPR-DON, Configuration Management, Continuous Monitoring, Security Control Assessments, and vulnerability management programs.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity process improvement, automation, system integration, testing, and fielding efforts.


Clearance Requirements 

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.  Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).  In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment. The listed pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this position for the location for which it has been posted and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Other compensation considerations may include, but are not limited to, job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or other applicable factors.

The pay range for this role is: $100,00-110,000 per year (San Diego (United States))
